Hey guys E1.gif Old time PIU Fan, I managed to get dig up my copy of Prex 3 cd for PC, but unfortunately I cant, for the love of me, find the exceed patch for it (the one that adds all the oldschool songs and others of the new ones).

could anyone point me in the right direction?

also, whats the best home version (I guess non-pc since the newer PIU games are on the consoles now) to pick up? the Xbox or the PS2 version?

and finally, I need to find a place to either obtain or buy OSTs for PIUs E1.gif I love the music.

Thanx for your help in advance guys :-D

There's no official Exceed patch for Prex 3... but this isn't the place to discuss. I'd recommend asking for further details at ph-online.net.

Anyway, for home versions, definitely get the PS2 version, since you can use PC mats with that AND you get 4 more songs than the XBox version. The unlock system's a pain, but perseverance and a PS2 controller will help a lot.

I don't think you can buy Banya OSTs easily without going to import stores. As for the K-Pop licenses, since they're all on albums in the real world will require a hunt through the K-Pop music shops, a trip to Korea, or LimeWire. ph-online.net might help you somewhat though, since we've got tons of stuff there.

Mods, sorry for the blatant advertising. frown.gif

I had a quick question.

If I was going to buy a machine, would it be preferable to buy a new one with NX preinstalled, or would it work just as well (and be relatively simple) to buy an older machine, as well as an NX upgrade kit and perhaps new sensors?

I'm just curious because the NX-installed machines appear to be around $7,000, while an older machine might only cost $2,000-$3,000, with the upgrade kit being only $1,000 or so more.

Finally, would there be any compatibility issues with an upgrade, as related to needing a certain model of machine to be able to upgrade to the newest version? Also, between the cabinets, which are generally thought preferable?

I'm not sure about the prices, but I'd probably go new instead of a used, which probably may have pad problems, etc.

The only cabinets you can get new are either GX (small but nice screen) or the new FX cabinet that is coming out with the release of NX, which uses a large plasma screen and with a new, sleeker cabinet design.

FX if you have cash, GX otherwise... every other model is old or used.

***A kind of update and clarification to the new club system***

Obviously the way AM wants the system to work won't work very well in the USA, so we're going to make a modified version of it. We'll be doing that real soon. Until then, you can still begin to make a club.

*****

Main Requirements to gain club certification: minimum number of members, club activities, and general activeness of the club.

They haven't announced the MINIMUM NUMBER OF PEOPLE REQUIRED which is kinda silly. I would really like for all clubs to have at least 10 people but I know that in the USA, even 10 people can be hard sometimes. We'll get this number soon so for now, I'd recommend shooting for 10 people.

They also haven't announced what the CLUB ACTIVITY requirements are. What it means is to hold tournies, exhibitions, or any kind of PIU activity in your clubs name. Just to show that you are continually active as a club and trying to help PIU grow. I can't imagine AM will ask for too much from this so until they (or we) announce the requirements, just think maybe 3-5 things a year. Tournies and exhibitions are just examples; you can really get creative with this I'm thinking as long as its constructive (Club battles would be pretty cool). When a club is ready to hold an event or activity, the club should sumbit this to AM's Marketing Team and AM will give full support to help make the event successful. What "full support" means has yet to be announced.

GENERAL ACTIVENESS is similar to "club activity". Rather than it meaning things that involve the public and/or people outside your club, it means the club within itself being active. Regular practice sessions, members competing in local tournies as well as the club sending members to compete in distant tournies to raise the awareness of your teams name, and being part of the piugame.com community are just a few examples of this. And oh, if you were wondering, I got the "general activeness" term from where AM lists these three requirements ("minimum club members, activities, etc") and ends with "etc". This is what I assume "etc" to mainly encapsulate. Of course if there is more, we'll let you know asap.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER/REMEMBER

Club Management - AM expects there to be a "Club Organizer", a person in charge of the club. Other than this position, the management and organization of a club is completely up to each individual club.

Job of a Club Organizer: (taken as-is from piugame. "the company" means AM)

1) An organizer is the person in charge of the club and should take best efforts to invigorate club through close relationship with the company.

2) In holding events for local people, the company gives certificate recognized by the company and the organizer is appointed as head of the event.

3) An organizer should select club members who participate in WPF national team competition with fair method.

4) Excellent club organizers can be designated as jurors in competition for selecting national team members.

5) Excellent club organizers can be designated as jurors in the WPF competition. (The company pays all the expenses like the WPF athletes)

Club Members - AM recommmends that club members should be from the same region. This is for obvious reasons as one of the requirements of a club is to hold Club Activities. Is it okay to have distant members? It seems so. But make make sure that the clubs initial growth is in a specific region, otherwise not only will it not meet the requirements of a club but it won't really even be a club (you can't practice together, you never see each other, etc.).

Community Participation - AM wants clubs to be part of the piugame.com community. They will actually look at this when considering how many people from your club will be allowed to compete in the national competition. **Most people know that the US boards on piugame are normally pretty slow. The International section however has actually picked up in the last year quite a bit. It is probably most important for a club to post in this section since the main reason AM has requested piugame participation is to increase international relations and growth.

I think that about does it. This is all taken from PIUGAME.COM, just reworded to not be in Korenglish. There is more information there concerning the national comp. and a few other club items. Hopefully this answered most of your questions E1.gif

So Miklotov,

Our NorCal club would have to be done this way. Granted, a ton of people in our area are DDR/ITG players, but maybe this new club system will help us get a dancing rhythm games club up and running and may encourage people to learn to play PIU (either as freestylers or speeders).

Unfortunately, I'm in Chicago as I type this and won't be back in Cali. until March for a brief time and then June, when I'll be back there "permanently". Any ideas on what we could do?

By the way, we should probably get MGL or someone to get an NX machine... heard that the mix is nothing short of awesome.

!!!! I've done some investigating into the Club Rules, and I've realized one KEY thing...

ALL of the notices of the Club Rules are EXACTLY the same! (Well, at least, for Chinese, English, and Spanish) They are all worded the exact same way with nothing special given for any situations.

Also, consider that the very SAME Club rules given to the US were given to these countries: UK, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, which probably means this rules sheet is a generic-club-rules sheet, considering that this English club rules document is not specific to the US itself.

Now then, using my fluency in Chinese and English and limited experience in Spanish, let's dissect the words in the Club rules sheets.

In Chinese, the word translated to "state" by AM is the word 地區. HOWEVER, this is clearly an erroneous interpretation, considering that the word 地區 (di qu) is NOT the word for state but the word for "locality" or "region". (The word for state in Chinese is "洲".) To lend weight to the fact that the word AM dubs "state" is actually the word "region", let's look at the Spanish club application. The word used in Spanish is "región" whose meaning is clearly obvious. Unfortunately, AM, in Korean-English, once again made a horrible misinterpretation and wrote the word "state" where it should have been "region."

What does this mean for us? This means that we have a lot more flexibility with club forming... because we no longer are restricted to 3 per state... but three per REGION. Thus, 3 clubs from West Coast, the Midwest, Deep South, New England, etc. is clearly something we can do.

I'm planning to go to ESPN Zone to try NX for the first time this coming Saturday. When do you guys play (and do you know kpopgrrl and Sawamura?)? Anyway, let's use PH or pumpcore for stuff about Chicago.

In other news about clubs, lots of protests are being thrown around at AM, and AM seems to recognize that there is indeed something wrong. (well according to bse)

kpopgirl started that NX rumor. It's still gonna be Zero for a couple more weeks yet. I don't like her. I've heard stories.

But yeah, come on over to the Midwest forum here on DDR Freak. We got quite a few folks over there.

The new club rules are up:

http://www.piugame.com/tempst_bbs/en/board_view.php?tbname=en_notice&no=30

These rules are more lax, and it's easy to start a club now. There needs to be some clarification for WPF participation and qualification.

And the no-bar rule is in effect again for male speeders.

There's a poopy PIU machine by my school that costs $1 per game. I only play when I have way too much cash on hand.

I've been wanting to get a homeversion for a long time. I might just use stepmania and build my own pad though.

Anyone ever play Pump via SM?

Rarely, since I end up just converting the steps into PIU PC format, but I'm not supposed to talk about that stuff here.

There's a home version for the PS2 (Exceed SE) available to the American public, and that version is about 3 mixes behind. (A new one is coming, but no one knows when it's coming out.)

There are also home versions available for the PC (Prex 3 and Perfect Collection), but the only way you can get those is to download it nowadays. However, those are worth getting, if only because some of these old songs won't appear in the newest PIU mixes.

Hello, im Sammuel from brazil and i recently got a ps2-version Pump it up exceed dance pad, included with game.

Well, i have no ps2 so i´ve got an usb adapter aswell, and everything works like heaven in stepmania 3.9, for me.

THe only issue i see is that after downloading Pump it up Theprex3 and Exceed, both PC versions, i saw the dance pad wasnt working with both games, and i thought it to be really strange.

Is there any way that i can get it to work with the pump it up PC game versions? that would be very nice, but i tried everything and nothing had really worked. erm.gif

Im sure there is a way to make the PS2-based dance pad, to work with the downloadable Pump pc games. But i have no idea of how. I even tried to find out some dance pad drivers on internet but with no sucsess. The USB adapter dont ask for any driver or anything, so i dont need to install anything to play it @ stepmania, and i thought it to be the same at the Pump pc games, but it isnt. =/

Well if someone could help me at that, i´d be endlessly thankful.

Thank you since now.

I just got PIU Exceed shipped to my door for less than $30 I like the music variet and over 100 songs out of the box is cool. I wish metal pads were available for it, there's a bitof a learning curve for it since I'm not used to diagnals but it's fun. I wish the menu showed how hard the songs are before hand like DDR does, DDR has a much better interface (and a much bigger following)

Yeah, Exceed and Exceed 2's interface (the interface of the PS2 and XBox game) wasn't very intuitive. Thankfully, they fixed this for Zero (mix after Exceed 2) and for NX (you can now see how hard the song is... while you pick it! Sigh... Andamiro.)

In response to veilsidebr's question, have you considered using the program Joy2Key or Joy2Mouse to convert the PS2 pad's inputs to the keys qeszc or Numpad7,9,5,1,3 depending on whether you want to play 1P or 2P side?

The new Club system is all up and running as of yesterday. If you want to start a club or are looking to join one, I'll point you to these sites:

http://www.pumpcore.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=11
There's a board dedicated to discussing regional clubs.

http://piugame.com
Official Pump site, you have to register an account before joining a club.

http://club.piugame.com/event/club_reg/index.html
This is where you register a club or join one.

If anyone has questions, ask away :3

edit: instructions to join

Register on PIUgame - make sure you include a picture in your profile or it won't let you join a club.
Go to the US club page and click Join Club next to the team in your region that you want to join.
You'll get a crazy message about an email, click "Move Page"
Check your email and click the link that's sent to you.
Go BACK to the club page and click the Join button again. I think that's all. :D!

Since the only DDR machines in Thailand seem to be an Extreme that's an hour away and a 3rd Mix in a nearby mall, I've gotten into Pump It Up Zero at the local most popular mall.

On DDR skills alone I can only manage 5s-7s and some 8s on Hard... and then I suddenly decide that it's a good idea to "try" Love is a Danger Zone 2 on Hard.. disgust.gif
