the wire is attatched to a sheet of metal. when that sheet metal touches a conductor(in this case, another piece of sheet metal), it responds. easy, no?
so, my guess is faulty wiring. look at the down arrows wire. if you see any rips in the wire covering or anything that looks like it could be a problem, simply cover it with electrical tape. hopefully, the nexen is easy to unassemble, because if not, o boy this is gonna be one hell of a project for you!! |
Well, i've messed with that wire a few times, taped, re-located etc, if the problem is within those two metals touching one anther, is it save to actually rip the adhesive of keeping the two metals together? |

vvvvvvvvvvv
Plastic
metal
(layer? space?)
conducting metal
Wire to send signal of charge
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
bottom of pad
or is it more like
vvvvvvvv
plastic
metal
wire
^^^^^^
space
conducting metal that's actually the bottom of the pad
I hope that made sense
vvvvvv

Hey guys - got my blueshark just now... Haven't played yet (waiting on the mail to come with my EMUUSB2 adapter)...
Anyway, here's my out of the box experience:
Arrived in a very timely fashion - didn't expect it to be so quick! It was packed well but could have been packed better. It was not 'smashed all to hell' or anything but the box didn't look like it had been 'handled with care' as the box instructed.
Got it out of the box, the pad has 2 little 'dings' in the matal part (not on any of the arrows). There is this horrible plastic stuff you have to remove all over the pad (I've spend 1/2 hour on it and still not all off)...
Had to adjust the arrow panels. The screws were too loose in some of them.
The pad is VERY solid. Very well built. The bar took some work to get in but it is very stable.
The arrows, while recessed, are not quite as recessed as I expected.
I'm just telling you all the bad...
The good thing is - this is a solid pad. Very sturdy and looks nice (once all the glue left behind by that plastic I had to peel wears off). It's larger than I imagined.
I unscrewed the arrows and looked underneath. - Great looking sensors. The arrows are hella thick! Never seen such thick arrows.
The mail should be here soon with my adapter... If not, I'm going to rent DDR from blockbuster for PS2.
I'll be back with more info later. So far, happy with my purchase! |

Alright, after further inspection of the Nexen pad, (Sorry about my horrible review earlier, I was in a horrible mood. I did however get the replacement stuff, with trouble mind you.) this is a decent pad. Not incredibly stable but better than a soft pad of course. I'm having trouble playing without shoes, as the arrows will not read over half the time. The price is something else that need to be changed.
The Biggest Problem With The Nexen: The lack of space between the edge of the arrow and the drop off point. I fractured the growth plate in my right foot from falling off the mat. There is barely a half inch of space there for your protection. I know, I should've been paying more attention, but that isnt the point. The point is, find some way to extend the mat in anyway possible. Whether it be with wood or brick or anything, extend it!! I ordered a replacement cord that plugs the mat into the PS2 (Mine was PACKAGED coompletely shattered) I had just received it last week after a three week waiting period, and now the doctor says that I can't play for the next month and a half minimum. So, please, find some way to extend your Nexen, or pay more attention to where you step! |

It's got X and O, right?
So it should be able to work with Soul Caliber, Tekken, and SF games. xD (I beat the arcade mode on SC2 with Nightmare on my tx1000, that was fun)
Or, just wait for your adapter to get there. _________________

Lots of fun crab-battling with friends on SF third-strike. Good good memories. Hadouken was hard enough but Shoryuken was even rougher and just about impossible; made for fun dancey-move creation though. |

my cobalt flux has the wire attatched to the top piece of sheet metal. so technically it goes
sheet metal
wire
sheet metal.
like i said, picks would be very helpful. _________________

I have used a RedOctane Ignition 3.0 for about 8 months, and it was starting to deteriorate. I finally made the decision to purchase a metal pad, and after reading all the glowing reviews here on ITGFreak, I decided to get a Blueshark. I ordered it on February 15 from mymybox.com, and received it on February 20. I haven't played on until today, however (ear infection).
I was kinda disappointed as soon as I opened the box. The 9 "squares" of the pad itself were all a bit misaligned, but that wasn't a huge concern. I cared more about the function of the pad than showing it off, and I realized that this probably wasn't an uncommon issue.
However, there were some real issues that did effect the function of the pad. First, I was never able to use the bar that came with it. The bar is bent at such an angle that the "legs" of the bar are two different heights. This means that cannot be properly aligned in the holes of the bottom of the pad, and the bolts simply will simply not go in.
I called mymybox earlier today, and a very kind gentleman answered the phone. I explained the situation about the bar, and he told me to not worry, that they would send another one as soon as possible (which I should be receiving in about a week, he said). I thought "Awesome. Well, it's kinda incomplete, but at least I'll have a fully working blueshark in a week. I guess I could practice some without the bar."
Nope. Not gonna happen.
I played about 10 songs of In The Groove on PS2, when I realized I couldn't pick a song. I pressed on the X button a few times, and...it wasn't working. I stepped on it. I stomped on it. I slapped it. I did everything I could. I looked under the panel, and compared it to the O button (which still works fine), and they look identical so far as I can tell, except the X button simply will not respond.
So I decided to use the control box instead, but after the VERY NEXT SONG, both the select and start buttons on the control box are ALSO unresponsive. I now have no way to select songs with the blueshark pad.
So to sum up:
1. Panels are misaligned.
2. Bar is bent and uninstallable.
3. X Button, and Control Box Buttons (Select, Start) are all unresponsive.
I have to ask, are any of these common issues? I can believe in the misaligned panels, but, otherwise, it sounds like I got hosed with a (badly) refurbished Blueshark pad.
I'm obviously going to call MyMyBox again on Monday and see what they have to say about the situation. They were very kind and generous regarding the bent bar. I know they obviously aren't going to send out a new pad, but I hope things work out (meaning, a very cheap exchange FOR a new pad).
Any comments or ideas about repair are greatly appreciated. I really did enjoy playing on the pad what little I did, and I can understand why it gets so much love. I just...you know...I wanna use mine, too.
EDIT: Also, I've seen a few other pictures of new Blueshark pads, and none of them have a layer of blue film wrapped around all the metal. Is this included on all the new Bluesharks, or is this further evidence of a botched refurbishing?

Yeap! I had it too! They put blue plastic stuff to cover the metal pad pad. I also had to spend more than 1/2 hour to remove all of those plastic.
if you want to to have clean look as mymybox blueshark metal pad, Good Luck! |

TX-anything = crap. |
Have you EVER played on a Nexen and a TX-6500 (way better then any older versions)??
Seriously, one of my friends got a TX-6500, and it works so much better then my Nexen pad. On the Tx-6500 I dont get any ghost steps, on the Nexen i do...alot. And NO its just not the wiring, is the pad itself. The velcro is way to thick and i'm not going edit the pad myself because i can still send it back and get a full refund.
I cant see in anyway why a TX-6500 would be crap compared to a Nexen pad...
Please explain. |

Yeah, I think that stuff isn't uncommon except for the bar. I got my Blueshark on Monday, but the control box broke the next day. Finally decided to call them the next day after waiting for a reply to my fax. I guess we got the same kind gentleman cause he said right away that he would ship and brand new control box out. He said it could be here as soon as today and gave me the tracking no in 10 minutes. (Lost it =P ) As for the misalined (correct me on spelling) panels, check to see if brackets are loose. Cause I know most peoples pads come with a few loose brackets, and just tighten the brackets with a screw driver. Hope I was of help, and good luck with your pad! _________________

Thank you for the response. These brackets aren't just loose, however, they are physically jammed into their slots. I've cut myself trying to remove them after removing the screws and panels, and I've had to tap them back in with a blunt object before being able to "screw" them back in.
After reading all the horror stories from MyMyBox in this thread, I'm just going to demand my money back. I can't believe I spent so much money on nothing. I really feel like an idiot.
EDIT: This is what I mean by "misaligned panels". This is exactly how the pad looked coming out of the box, only with the middle panel jammed/screwed in.

Ok, so MyMyBox is on a streak or something. Cause my control box got here today, and they shipped it Thursday afternoon. I thought the guy on the phone was just messing with me about it could be here by Saturday. Ok, so I spent all day playing on my wonderful Blueshark. Got 4 AAA's, and a bunch of SDG's on DDRSuperNOVA. Also, ChewChewTrain, my panels are misaligned too, its most likely your Cbox acting up. Just call them up for a new one, and then your pad will most likely be back on the ball, I'm officially one satisfied customer! _________________

That is some bad alignment there though. It's not going to ruin the pad, but if you're spending $300-$400 on a DDR pad, it DAMNED WELL BETTER look sexy. _________________

I'm tempted, but if I do that, I know I'll break the 14 day window for refunds. The pad they sent me came in dilapidated condition, seems obviously used, and is not at all "sexy". That, along with the insta-break buttons and control box, and an uninstallable bar all make me fairly certain that I just want a refund and nothing else.
Would the X Button not function because of the control box, but the other 5 pad buttons be fine? I'm sure it's possible, but is that common at all? |

On ITG2 PS2 for some reason my A button won't work at all. But it works fine for DDR. It's weird... _________________
