This is my attempt at mapping the wiring in a standard DDR foam pad, from PS2 controller to chip, to the black "circuits" and the places they go. This is intended for those who plan to use the spare parts from a foam pad for a metal pad project.

There is a second layer, but that is comming soon.

did you take apart the hard part at the top?
i did on my gamecube mario mix pad, it turns out that its the most basic thing to sodder to for a project.
Everything was labeled, even the ground wire. its the most simple thing to figure out.
I suggest that if your going to sodder to anything- go out and buy a mario mix pad and use the chip inside it.

But the thing is, the chip is plastic. so you cant really sodder to it.
you need to buy electric conducting metal clips (small enough to fit on the chips) and just sodder the wire to the clip, and clip on the clip to the motherboard

its simple, i might reword what i just said later. but in the meantime i need to go eat dinner

Had to. Saved the screws and the plastic (though the plastic I don't know why E10.gif)

(no, i don't care how old this topic is, if anybody has the impulse to ask)

No problem. riiight.gif

I thought people might need this if using a foampad chip for wiring a DDR pad... I sure need it now that planning has begun for my own metal pad.

You know, I did. But, I'm actually glad you brought this back up. If you would please, I'd appreciate it if you reposted that in the Do It Yourself pad thread. I don't want your info going to waste. (I'm assuming this is accurate information, obviously.)

Certain foam pads tend to switch around the wiring just a little bit. in regards to where the flat circuitry/button and chip meet, so I can gaurentee partial accuracy - the exact diagram was from an INNEX foam pad, but I have two DDRGAME foam pads (different "versions") so when they have completely died, then I will tear it apart and see if there are any real differences.
