Okay, here's my "slant".

Summer of 2002, I was down the Jersey shore, being the cool little kid I was (not kidding, I was kinda little). I was always a sucker for video games, so I always liked playing at the arcades, playing stuff like Skee-ball and Tekken. So, when I came across a certain arcade, I saw this huge machine (DDR of course), and two guys playing on it, hitting arrows with their feet in unison with the song. I was thinking "Wow, that looks so awesome!! I wanna try it really bad!". So the next day, I saw that the machine was being used, but the guy was on his last stage. Being the nice guy he was, he let me use it.

Okay, this next thing is kinda fuzzy, but I'll try to explain as best as possible.
I had no idea what kanji was back then. I swear. So I had no idea what I was choosing. I could've chosen the Light difficulty...which was probably what I did because it was simple, yet not so simple. I had decent coordination and I was a fast learner with what I was doing. To this day, I don't remember what my first song was because everything was all so new to me and I didn't care what I was choosing because I was having so much fun. I remember just passing my songs because all these people were saying "wow, you did good" and "yay!" and I was happy as a lark.

I fell in love with the game.

A few years later, I started hearing about DDR again. It was even in my newspaper, saying it was a hot new topic. I remembered how much I had fun with it, wondering if it would ever be on a game console.
To my delight, DDR Extreme was being released on the PS2 that year.
I also met new people who also liked it, so I was thrilled with that as well.

Happily, I got DDR Extreme for Christmas, and it all went uphill from there.

I currently own Extreme, Extreme 2, and SuperNOVA, and I can now do 8 and 9 footers. Me and a friend are even starting a DDR club at my school!

All in all, coordinated 11-year olds can one day become very good at this game.

Well, it started about a year and a half ago. i was drinking at a friends house and he was playing stepmania, and i decided to give it a shot, i failed miserably, even on keyboard doing light songs. About a month later, i went to the arcade to play some tekken. saw a ddr machine and thought, hey...that looks like stepmania...wtf...and 2 girls were playing butterfly on light (yea yea i know, same old song), so i decided to give it a try and got up, and before this i'd been playing stepmania alot at home, my reading speed was up and everything. i knew most of the official ddr songs. The first song i did was can't stop falling in love speed mix on light, and i found it too easy! So i tried it on standard and passed with a B, i'm now A'ing 10 footers with ease. thats my story...

Hmm, I started playing it on my friend's metal mat when I was at his house. I kept playing, and by the time I had left I had passed my first song on heavy! It was Dynamite Rave. Then i bought my own mat and he let me borrow his Megamix and Party Edition E1.gif

I played my first game of DDR, about 3 years ago. But I started playing like almost Non=Stop about 2 years ago, when My uncle Adam and My uncle Jordan, and some of Jordans friends played at his house in the Hat. I loved it at first, then it kinda got boring for about 2 weeks than I started playing alot again. Since than I have been playing about non-stop. When I got home from the Hat, I bought the home addition of Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2. Than my down arrow broke, and just lately, I went back to the hat and My uncle gave me his other pad, so now I have 2 pads to play double on....sorta, only one of my pads down arrow doesn't work. What made me stay playing ddr was just the amount of people that played it and how addicting it can get. Lol. E1.gif

I discovered DDR during a grade 8 grad trip to Quebec City, where my friends and I randomly found an arcade with DDR... So we decided to try it. By round 2 we started playing with one person on each arrow because we kept missing... Ah, good times.

That was about three years ago. I only started playing DDR seriously last year.

Well, at the time I started (back in 01') my girlfriend and I were walking in the mall when we first saw a DDR machine. She had one for the Playstation but we never played it cause actually had no idea what it was (it was a gift from a friend). So after seeing it in the mall we decided that maybe it'd be a good idea to just start playing since it seemed pretty interesting. Started on USA mix.

Came home when I was in 5th grade. My brother was playing it with 3 of his friends. Told me to do Sweet Sweet <3 Magic and I failed. Kept playing after that.

I played for the first time in November 2005, after seeing the Spongebob Squarepants movie. (I had just turned 15 the day before). I came out of the theatre with my friends and we decided to hang around the arcade for a while, so I suggested we play DDR, because I had heard of it and seen other people play and I thought I would be pretty good. So me and my friend's sister went on the machine. We selected Butterfly on beginner and started to play. I was doing all right but my friend was getting frustrated so she and my friend went to get ice cream and I was left on the machine alone. This Asian kid came up to me and asked if I could play on my friend's sister's credits. I said sure, and he proceeded to own my buttocks -_-' on standard or heavy... I don't really remember.

A little less than a year later, the same friend got DDR at home and I went over a few times and played it, and after three separate times I could play songs on light. I was having tons of fun so I got SuperNova for Christmas.

Now, after a month of playing for hours a day, I'm just getting into Heavies. ^^ This sounds bad, but it's pretty surprising for me since I am quite overweight and have never been interested in any kind of exercise, and I'm not musical at all.

So that's my story! tongue.gif love.gif

A year and a half ago, I saw this guy do Max 300 heavy. So I tried, of course failing horribly. After that I was determined to beat it. I've been hooked since. So close to a AA now..

it's was like 5 years ago(I was about 9), I went to go see a movie with my mom and when we left the theater my mom said she just had to go to the bathroom or have a smoke, one of 'em, and she gave me some tokens for the arcade, there was some guy who was playing Extreme, I don't know what song but he was playing heavy, and I decided to give it a try, I played on beginner for one round and thought it was too easy, but I had no tokens left so we went home. For the next year or so I would play like once every 2 months, pretty much when I would go to the movies, then I found an arcade with a 3rd Mix machine and started to play like once a month or so, only around 2004 I've been playing regularly and I got to heavy fast when I bought DDRMAX, and got to heavy within 2 or 3 months and I've playing very regularly after that.

Back in high school. My senior(or was it junior year) and my friend Greg had a birthday party. This was my first time playing DDR and I attempted to play Maxx Unlimited(don't ask, I was a fool when I was younger) and pretty much failed humorously. A few months later I bought a cheap Gamestop mat(which looked exactly liked the official ones) and Max 2. It didnt last for very long as I got sick from excessive motion sickness and sold it to my friend.

Flash forward years later after discovering a local arcade that has DDR I got back into playing. Light in June 06. Standard by October. Heavy in December. And here I am, AAing songs on Reverse.

i always knew DDR was around, never was really interested though, thought id make a fool of myself. about 3 years ago i watched some people in my class playing stepmania on the keyboard. i watched with interest, and played a little bit, not too much though. lost interest for a while, and then about 7 months ago i started playing stepmania again on a whim. only this time i got really absorbed. about a month later i purchased an ignition 3.0 and started busting out with that. first pad song was kung fu fighting, as easy as it could go. got a D. kept getting Ds for the next few songs, but kept on going. between that and cutting out soda ive lost 60 lbs so far, and im still going (gained a LOT a few years back). now ive been playing at the arcade as much as i possibly can, yesterday i did 40 songs in a row down there. completely collapsed after the last step on the last one, couldnt even stand anymore, but it was a good hurt, i can do 5s and 6s now, but im getting better quickly. itll be much faster when i finish building my hard pad, which is about half way done now. but im completely addicted now.

When I originally played DDR about a year and a half ago, I started playing because my older brother got DDRMAX for the PS2 and a cheap dance mat, and the game looked interesting to me. Of course, since it was my first time playing, I sucked horribly, but I kept trying and eventually got to Heavy mode about 2 and a half months later. Since I was so skinny back then, everyone thought I was amazing because I was so small and doing Heavy mode. That period of when I was playing DDR religiously (from about Summer 2003, to December 2004) was seriously like the best year of my life.

Then after about a year and a half, I called it quits. I swore to myself to never play DDR again.

Then around Christmas time in 2006, I went to see a doctor and I found out that I was overweight. I remembered that I had a DDR pad up in my attic. So, to lose weight, I started to play DDR again (almost a cliche, right?). I have been playing DDR since January, and I can almost pass Max 300 on Heavy.

Well, it was about 4 years ago me, my friend and our g/fs went ice skating and they had an arcade there. We watched these guys play DDR and they were accually really good. Then my g/f said "Hey, I have this for PS2 at home." I convinced her to let me borrow it. My friend and I played it for laughs and both got pretty decent until the pad broke. It was about 2 years until I happeed to buy a new one, this was over the summer. After a month or so I got above avgerage. Then sorta drifted away because of summer activites...beach, friends, parties etc...Another year went by and it was the end of August. mY self and a couple of buddies went to this place where they had gocarts, arcade...all this crap b/c we were bored and wanted something to do..This arcade also happened to have DDRExtreme there. I played it and forgot how much fun it was and bought it days later. Now it has been almost6 months since I havnt stopped playing and I'm going crazy waiting for DDRUniverse to come out.

Sup yall my name is matt and im a hardcore DDR player from Australia Ive just joined this site and I look forward to contributing to it E1.gif

Anyway About 3 or 4 Years ago i went to A funhouse to check out some games and i saw a pro playing ddr without looking and i was so inpressed by it i just had to try it for myself, my first song was Afranova on Light, i got a C for it and about 3 plays later i could do it with 1 foot, im a little bit of a show off it wasnt long till i reached Standard and heavey and these days i can do Heavy8 easyly and most Heavy9's

My fav songs are, accross the nightmare, Des row, A Rennasaunce, drop out, and Captain Jack.

There are Not too many pros where i am So when i dance i sometimes Get a crowd, and thats usually when i get a little nervous and show off a little E10.gif

Im all about Endurance, Pushing myself to the point where i Just drop..... allmost i just really need to get more stamina, I can pass Paranoia 290 (without touching the bars like a wussy) with a B or a C but i cant do any more for a few minutes, so the solution is Keep playing to inprove E4.gif
