do you happen to have a folder/zip/rar of all your pics of your pad?
im making a tutorial that is based off yours and it may be nice to include some/all of your pictures as well.
also, i dont have a working pad at the moment, and im not sure when i can work on mine again.
and i love the X & O buttons on that pad pink

What wood is that?
Is it glossed, stained? |
It's stained, furniture grade something or other. My grandfather had some extra wood from his last project so he used it on the borders.
We put on like 2 coats of stain (or however until it was dark enough) then finished |

| so what exactly kind of pressure sensors should i be looking for? I want to use them for the next one, but looking up "pressure sensor" on ebay brings up alot of car items. |

howdy everyone, im in the middle of building my pad, as per riptide's design on his site. cruising along pretty good considering i dont have any tools and money, im at the part where it would be time to cut the corners off the acrylic and install the wood corner braces. found this here thread and started reading from the beginning, as i know repeating questions and stuff are annoying. well, i got to about page 100 before i started to lose it. it seems as though there are some redesigns of the sensors going on? which would be good to know about since those mending brackets are expensive, and im at the part where it would be good to know of any changes before i get too far into the whole thing. im also wondering about ITG graphics for my arrows. waay back there somewhere i found some really basic ones that are alright, but i figured that since its been 4 years something better is probably floating around. (i must appologise for my lack of mental fortitude to read the whole thread  ) but yeah, seeing riptide is still around after all these years is cool, normally folks do something cool and then leave forever stranding all their followers in a zone of no-help and fail.

Well, try "PIU Pressure sensor".
They're way cheaper than Betson or MMB and apparently Channelbeat's suck.

Wow, some of the images posted here kill my remote desktop from work to my home system where I can safely slack off without being logged (the rd goes over an SSH tunnel -- adds encryption and makes it so I don't have to open an extra port on my firewall ... I used to work as an intrusion analyst) 
I did kinda leave the scene for a couple of years (at least I didn't visit these forums... I did answer emailed questions -- it's the best way to reach me if I'm not posting)

Yes, I'm currently working on a new sensor design. The old design certainly works, and works well, but there is some lacking compared to the arcade design -- mainly there is movement in the panels which does not feel arcade-like and the weather stripping does loose its rebound which eventually makes the pads not play well. The weather stripping has to be replaced (which is fairly cheap and easy, but it'd be nice if it weren't necessary). Also, the materials for the new design so far are much cheaper.
I noticed you joined the mailing list. I posted more information there because I'm trying to keep the switch design related conversation on my mailing list so this thread isn't hijacked.
For those not on the mailing list, but are interested, I posted some pictures day or so ago of my work at http://www.digitaltorque.com/ddrpad/newswitch/. It isn't finished... the foam blocks(they are green in the pictures) crushed too much under the weight after 2 days of playing, so it's back to the drawing board for that part. The actual switches themselves, however held up very well, and are still fairly sensitive despite the blocks being crushed.
Please post any thoughts or ideas to my mailing list. If you do not wish to join, you can still email the list, but it will be held for approval so spam doesn't get through (I'll likely approve anything not spam and related to the topic... ie. anything DDR pad design related). so what would be suggested as far as which way i should go? im at the part where i can install the sensors and arrow panels. but as i was saying, the mending brackets are pretty expensive. especially for 16 of em |

| you could always just cut strips of sheet metal and use them in place of the mending brackets. the only thing would be to make sure they don't bend all that much while your doing it. |

Yes, I have not done it myself, but I hear that people have done what pinkdeath suggested with good results. I believe you should have some extra sheet metal left.

| yeah... I hope they aren't that expensive too... But I mean, I saw a pad up for sale that stated that its sensors were made out of tape switches. |

i could do that, but ive got aluminum. i am liking what i see on your new design in the works there though |

its not the best, but it is possible, the whole one valance electron away from a semi-conductor is true, but you must remember that lots of old houses have aluminum instead of copper wiring. |
