|
I've decided to mod my soft pads rather than put forth several hundred dollars for metal ones and I have a few questions for anyone who knows anything about doing this.
I've heard that you're supposed to put plexiglass over the top of the pad. How thick should the plexiglass be?
I'm also thinking about putting a piece of masonite under it to make it sturdier. Could I just sandwich a pad between the glass and masonite and bind it with clamps, or would that press up against the buttons all the time and make them not work? Should there be anything between the glass and masonite, other than the pad, to keep the glass from pressing down on it?
Please respond with any advice you may have, even if it doesn't concern my specific questions. I really want to do this. I may post more questions as more arise and I will also keep you updated on my progress (ideally with pictures) as soon as I get some info on materials so that I can start. |

apparently Home Depot and Lowes don't have it anymore. I was told the manufacturer stopped making it and it's been backlogged for over a year. Is there anything else anyone can recommend? I miss my mat. It was a good mat, still is, just the vinyl covering badly needs replacing.
Does anyone know where to get vinyl covering that doesn't need to be doubled up?
panda, you'd be best off not using clamps as it may damage the electronics inside the pad. As for masonite, I'm assuming that's a heavy flat rock? You can do that, but I tell you, the particle board recommended in the modding instructions really is cheap, easy to obtain and cut up, and heavy enough to keep my big body from moving it around when I jump.
Hope someone can answer the question about the vinyl. I'm desperate! |

I made a soft pad modding tutorial a long time ago:
Tutorial: How to mod your Soft Pad.
I hope this will help you. _________________
