just bought a mad catz PS2 controller to play ITG (I'm cheap, and a bit too lazy to play on foot at home =P) and the buttons doesn't work I dunno why... I mean they don't respond to anything on my ps2, the buttons don't respond at all. Can anyone help on this?

P.S the start and Select button turns red when I turn my ps2 on, so ya anyone can help thanks!

Your first mistake was buying a madcatz product.
Have you tried it with another game? If it doesn't work i'd return it for a real PS2 pad' or at least anything not madcatz. BOOOO MADCATZ!

You can get a dualshock2 used for $5; do so.

They work well 99% of the time, and if they have issues, they're easy to take apart and fix.

Your second was using a controller. The game offers no challenge after about three days on controller.

Well, you bought it second-hand by the sounds of it, so almost anything could be wrong. In my experience, the ps2 rejects a controller if it finds anything wrong with it.

Not a single button works at all? That sounds like a busted controller to me. Have you had any success with the analog sticks?

Even if you do repair this thing and get it working, you probably won't have a very high quality or high sensitivity controller. I'd buy yourself another.

Make sure the sensor sheet is plugged in to the controller chip.
If the analog sticks don't work either, then it's probably a busted chip or damaged ground cable.
