To the first question, I don't think so. I haven't gotten any stronger, really.
Bar raping sometimes gives your arms a workout, like more of a workout than your legs get. But that's only sometimes. Most of the time the work is solely in the legs. _________________

It gives your legs endurance and heart a stronger feeling.
No matter what, building your heart muscle is more important when it comes to living.
I noticed it made my calves more toned.
If you want to build muscle, you need lots of carbs, or your body will break down muscle to keep up with your work. _________________

Depends how much you bar rape. If you are supporting your whole body, your arm strength will increase significantly. _________________

How it affects your leg muscles depends on how you play. When I first started, I played on my toes, and my calves got a lot bigger. When I switched to flatfooting, they shrank a bit, although they were still bigger than they were before I started playing. The tradeoff, I think, is that my quads became a lot stronger.
I'm not sure how bar-raping changes that, but my guess is that it will not strengthen your legs as much as no-bar playing. And while bar-raping makes your arms stronger, it won't strengthen them nearly as much as a workout routine. _________________

If you want to improve muscle with DDR, try bar-hugging doubles. Otherwise it won't do much but make certain muscles in you legs really really really toned -- not strong, but they can keep going forever. I've actually noticed a "freakishly skeletal" trend among most DDR players because playing absorbs so much energy from the rest of your body. _________________
