There's no such thing as a perfect crowd... I've experienced quite a bit of the same scenarios you guys put up above, but I've got a bigger peeve.
Fellow Players.
Sure, you might get pissed at the girl yammering on her phone, or the annoying preteens hitting your pad, but nothing is more capable of pissing me--and most people--than when you have a retard for an opponet.
Racist ones at that too.
I was playing this one guy, who is somewhat your steretypical American Anime Otaku, wearing a Trigun shirt and a bit chubby mind you. He's there with his girlfriend I assume, and he played in his dirty, smelly socks..
Well, I braved the chance to play and challenged him. He had no qualms because at that time our machine was joint premium. I pull up Cartoon Heroes, and we're both on light.
Only, while he's jumping back and forth like he's trying to goose-step, I pull off some run-of-the-mill spins and he starts badmouthing me with things such as, "You think just because you're Asian you're good at videogames?" and "Yeah, you need to be good at games don't you? Because you can't get laid!"
I took it calmly, finished the song and smirked a bit when I saw how uncomfortable 'his' girl was acting because of his antics and the rest of the people in the arcade... So, I made the next song Sakura and took the liberty of putting both of us on Heavy.
'Twas bittersweet. _________________

Wow, what a douche. It's too bad there are people who have to be like that.
The only player-related problem I ever had was when I was just starting DDR. There was this dude who was in line while me and one of my friends were playing- and I hear him say to another guy there, "don't worry, you won't have to wait long- they'll fail pretty quickly." The ironic thing is that about a year later, I challenged him at DDR and won. The minute he saw the score, he just walked right out of the arcade. |

Uh-huh, I just wish people could just shut up sometimest, or at least cut the connection between their thoughts and their mouth... Otherwise, I'd gladly do it for them.
Though, players like that aren't so bad if they're just off to the side. But once they start interferring with your game by either doing something off the platorm or even if they're doing something while they're playing against you, it's not so fun and out comes the 'accidental' foot between the legs. _________________

I take abit of offense that, Like I've said before. You can't take one person who likes some, And Judge them all. Know what I mean? Sure some "Stereotypical American Anime otaku" are alike, But then you have the good ones, I LOVE LOVE LOVE anime, I am always wearing something related to anime, From Hats, to shirts, even a few of my costume pieces.
Anyways, Yes, You met one of the....Bad kind. They suck. And Judge people quicker the hell. They never stop and look at them selfs, They just judge really quick to feel better about themselfs.
My arcade just has the few African American girls (Usually between the ages of 10-18) Who will get up to next to me while I am doing a song, Jump around the pad and laugh really hard, Start crap-talking, And it breaks my concentration sometimes, And when I miss a step, they bust out laughing and, Heck, I've even had a few of them say " Look at that white-boy... actin' like can dance better then us" (Boy, I sure do love living in Macon, Georgia.)
Anyways.. That's about all that irritates me. I know those pads can take a beating, Considering one the fellow DDR players is 6'3'' about 275 pounds, plays doubles and flat footed on standard-heavy. He's broken all the panels, (Not on purpose mind you) But when you get people like I said above on the pad, they act like they have to literally pound the 23#$%^%# out of the pad. Anyways, Rant over. hahaha. |

Never did think to mention annoyances from other players.
There's really only one person that kinda gets on my nerves when he shows up while I'm playing. I don't know what the issue is, but he's taken to saying "Yes, ma'am" to me constantly (I'm a guy). My guess is that he either takes offense or feels threatened by the fact that I enjoy what he considers "girly songs".
Yeah, so? I'm prone to playing songs with female vocalists. Love Love Shine, Candy <3, Love Love Sugar (my absolute favorite song in the game), Senorita, Mahou no Tobira...songs like those.
It's irritating at best. But what can I do? I'm not about to change the songs I play. _________________

Dang that guy would be ultra pissed at me when I do my "BeForU" set, which is Kiseki, Peace, and Under the Sky lol.
Btw, I've heard Xepher enough times already... _________________

Maybe sometime if I know he shows up I'll play nothing BUT "girly" songs just to annoy the hell out of him.
On SuperNOVA the song I hear played way too much is Centerfold. I like Xepher and I'm determined to clear it on Challenge for the 2nd time so I can get evidence via my camera. I cleared it once a few days ago and haven't been able to since. Combination of not enough energy and I'm sure the pad doesn't always respond since I don't hit it hard enough...pesky worn-out pad.
Well, shouldn't be surprised, I know that cabinet once held ITG2 and people abused the pads on 11+ difficulty songs. _________________

The arcade manager, and I kinda wish he would stick to the plan he originally told me about regarding SuperNOVA.
As much as I like Extreme, and glad he kept Extreme on it's current cabinet (which currently appears to be undergoing some improvements, as noted by the black paint over the front, covering the bad mess that was the DDR Extreme logos, and replacing the selection and Start buttons. Hope the pads are next), the original plan was to keep ITG2 on the cabinet SuperNOVA is on now, and alternate DDR Extreme with SuperNOVA on a weekly basis.
What happened is a few weeks before receiving SuperNOVA, ITG2's computer went bad. DDR USA (EWWW!!! GET IT OFF ME! GET IT OFF!!!!) was placed in the cabinet until SuperNOVA arrived, then it was placed in there. The manager's reason for not keeping to the original plan, even though the ITG2 computer has since been repaired, is that the cost of the upgrade, which was $5,000 I believe, merits keeping it out for several months.
At the very least, I do see one benefit to this, as the pads on that cabinet are already in extremely horrible condition. I am seeing progress on improvements, so maybe, MAYBE, by the end of the month the pads will have the new sensors I've been hearing about. Personally, I still hope he just gets new pads. Really, they are NOT that expensive, and with new pads, more people will play more often, and the pads will be more than paid for. _________________

Uh, Extreme Plus? Wouldn't you rather have a regular EXTREME? _________________

stomp as hard as they can
put hands in front of the screen while you are playing

I hear ya. I had some kid do that while I was picking my song. I had heard the noise for a mod change, but it didn't click in my mind that mods were changed until I started playing the song (Ecstasy on heavy). It was about 15 seconds in when I realised that the steps were too easy... I checked the mods afterwards when doing my last song and it turns out that kid had set the steps to 'cut', which explains why it was only quarter beats.. |

This one wins over all. I saw a guy acually push someone off of the pad, he flew like 5 feet and hit the ground and slid. He tried to run back to the pad but the song already failed. The guy who pushed him was some goth kid with his friends, assholes. |

I actually caught people on video doing that onto me while I was playing. A most recent example is when I was trying to pass HDV on extra stage and two girls got on the other pad and started to pretend that they were playing. I failed 3 seconds after that. _________________

Well I personally love when people hop on the pad and make fun... or when people point and poopy... mainly because it's fun to freestyle and goof off for me... so whenever someone hops on I looks straight at them, waive, tap them on the head and frick around with em... while still hitting the arrows...
But what's even better is when people shadow me and don't realize I'm playing doubles... I've trainwrecked a six year old kid when freestyling bad routine... I bumped some random emo kid on red zone... and I toltally elbowed this fat chick when I was playing super max-me-mix... but that chick deserved more than an elbow... it was the ending runs and I failed! ive also bumped people some other times but not to big... |
