|
|
I've waited 1 year and come February, I'll finally afford my Cobalt Flux platform. I've been getting excited so I started visiting the forums here and at cobaltflux.com. However, I'm sorry to see so many complaints lately. Should I beware? What other pad compares to the Cobalt Flux (considering the perceived recent issues with those pads)?
I don't want to make a 400 dollar mistake! |

Looks like that handle bar would get in the way? Honest question: Why would anyone want one?
I'm definitely looking at the blueshark... However, the one without a bar is out of stock...? |

also, playing with a bar behind you would help out more when you play in arcades, you'd get used to not flailing around a lot due to hitting the bar _________________

Lots of people hold on to it when they play to maintain their balance and make passing hard songs easier. If you do get one with a bar, you don't have to put it in.
Actually, I'd almost recommend not putting it in. The thing looks really cheap and flimsy. _________________

idk why cobalt fluxes have been so bad lately. i got mine used off this site, i belive the manufacturing date was around early 2006/late 2005, and i love it. at first when it came, the up arrow had problems but i unwired everything, let it sit out overnight, then screwed it all back together and it works perfect. the only problem ive had is it slides, which im fixing later this weekend.
i havent used a blueshark yet, but they're really hard to find and have nothing to say about them until i get the chance to use them. since cobalt flux apparantly "sucks" now, i reccomend just give your flux a month, do what i did, and play with it a LOT to make sure it breaks in. i'm sure it was from shipping. o, and when you open it up, do you think one of you "recent" cobalt flux buyers could take pictures? i can tell you if they've changed the making progress as well. _________________

I've had mine for maybe a little more than a month, and it's not good. The longer I keep it, the worse the pad misses/almosts/way offs get. It also occasionally just dies out for a second or so, and then goes back to working.
The bar is there for people to hold onto while they play. You don't need it, but apparently it helps you play. I tried it once while idly tapping in the menu and didn't like it, so I never bothered with it again. AA Bob hasn't ever used it either. _________________

I distinctly remember him saying he passed Pandemonium on a foam pad with using a window ledge as a bar. |

In that case, he almost usually doesn't use the bar! _________________

i'd like to see the whole pad with no panels on...perhaps a close up on the back of panels, wires, and base. make sure you get a good pic of the sheet metal. my guess is that they use cheaper sheet metal now, or something like that. or maybe they mass produce them in china now. who knows? just get lots of pics of anything... and lots of em! _________________

I doubt they could afford the capital to manage an outsourcing. Anyway, I still have one sitting around at home from January 2003. Seems to work quite well (or it did while I was still within 1200 miles from it), although I have had to tweak it quite a few times over the past couple of years, including electrical tape, a few wire-splittings, etc. Nothing really harsh.
To the point, we really have a thread for this. Really recommend someone do some investigating and check this out; I'd be sad to see CF's quality go down the drain.
