Buying my 1st pad

This week I will be buying my 1st ddr pad at the local arcade/gameshop this week. I have played on the arcades Max2 machine for almost 2 months now, and it's just getting too costly to pay to play every time. I cannot get a pad online due to me not having enough cash for shipping online, and lack of an ebay account.

The shop does have 2 metal ddr pads that nobody has purchased yet though. After some extensive research, I figured out the models. They have a TX1000 for $100, and a TX2000 for $150.

My question is, which one is the better buy? I have seen alot of negative feedback on the 1000, so what about the 2000? Is the extra $50 worth it? Will it hold up longer?

Any feedback is appreciated.

The TX-2000 is basically a TX-1000 with a really unstable bar. You won't even be able to use it properly without it moving alot.
Oh, and these pads really aren't that great, but if you mod them correctly, you can get them to work okay.

For the future never buy a pad from eBay, or from any pad dealer (such as http://ddrgame.com/ ) sites. These pads are always bad, and are always a hassle to return. For metal pads, stick to the Cobalt Flux and the Blueshark.

As for your first pad, I'd recommend the official Konami pad. Those are good because they will last a decent while and don't slide much compared to other softpads.

I'm pretty sure that this guy wants a metal pad because after two months of playing strictly at the arcade, switching to a softpad would feel really weird. Just because it's the first pad, doesn't mean it has to be inexpensive.

Yea. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I really don't think I would feel right playing in my socks.lol

But I am dropping $1000 on my new pc rig, so sadly I don't have the cash for a CF or blueshark.

Hmm...If you can't really afford the Blueshark, then don't get anything at all unless you're willing to play in socks. Seriously, I was an avid arcade player, but when I modded my softpad, it was good enough until I got a metal pad. As tough as it sounds, if you wait, you'll be happy you did because you'll have a pad that will actually last you more than a couple of months.

I've seen two TX-1000's go for $150.00 on eBay with shipping and handling, but that's not including duties/customs if any. So no, $100.00 isn't a great deal.

I might stop at the new gamestop in town to see if they got anything, but i'm doubtful. Plus I don't like gamestop. The small local store is much nicer.

I just found this BNS wireless pad. Do you think it is any better than the 2000? It's almost identicle in price to the 2000 after shipping.

If you don't mind holding out a month or two for us to catch up with orders, you can get a DT600 hardpad brand new for half the cost of the tx1000, and it should last about a billion times longer.

EDIT: yes for BNS, they're pads are held in high regards around here, but don't go wireless.
