Yeah, you'll get used to the arcade mod.

Actually, I think I'll go so far as to say that anyone who complains that their arcade mod makes it too hard to play either needs to just play on it more or adjust their technique. It's completely possible to play by shuffling your feet and stepping close to the center (provided your CF works the way it should). Maybe you just have to angle your feet a little more; I don't know since I've never had any problems playing with the arcade mod.

Design: The mat look pretty good out of the box. Though the green top corner arrows are unatractive.

That's pretty subjective; I don't mind the color at all. Also, it's really easy to replace the decals with whatever you want.

Gindu wrote:
There is almost no metal visible on the pad so that was disapointing.

Why is that disappointing? If it's that big of a deal, just take out the corner and center decals. That way, it'll look like it has metal corners and a metal center.

Gindu wrote:
Though all the decals are, are just paper under the clear lexan.

They're not just paper - they're laminated to make them last longer.

Gindu wrote:
After playing awile those decals seem to shift and get destroyed.

Huh, I've actually never heard of that happening before. The decals on both of my CFs are fine after a year and a half of heavy use.

Gindu wrote:
The sensitivity is decent but for its 300 dollar price tag, it should have been better.

I disagree with you there. To me, sensitivity is one of the CF's strengths. On a properly-working CF, you can do things that you can't do on most arcade pads, like hitting arrows with your fingers or just barely hitting an arrow with the tip of your toe.

It's just that these new CF's are no good. I've got ripping decals, and my pad gives me more and more pad misses every day. I've gotten them on jumps. Jumps of which I hit.

AA Bob>>>That's pretty much exactly what I posted on the Mymybox forums, but Gindu decided to remove it for some reason. Oh, and the solo arrows are green because they actually are green on Solo machines. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Lol Andrea.

Anyway, FedEx dropped off my Flux this afternoon, but my parents refused to let me open it and check if anything was missing.

So I'll wait out the next 5 days apparently. I'm just glad that it arrived before Christmas and looks to be in excellent condition (FedEx handled it better than I thought they would).

Ever package I've ever gotten from FedEx looked like it had been through a noteworthy explosion over the course of the delivery.

The packaging on my pads looked like it'd been through 3.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure that FedEx lights all their trucks on fire once every three days; it's the only answer.

Actually, I was playing on my Cobalt Flux with the arcade mod for 2 months approximately, and I never got used to it after playing Heavy/Expert every single day.

Oh, and what did you mean by cutting the bottom of the velcro and putting the "exposed" wire under it? Do you just mean the wire that connects to that arrow?

I got my cobalt flux (black and textured arcade mod) two days ago, and I've used it both with my ps2 and attached to my comp on stepmania. Only issue i've had is debowing these darn panels, but as far as sensitivity goes, i've got about 40 or 50 AA's I haven't had before and 15-20 AAA's. So no clue whats going on.. must be on an individual pad basis.

Well, since all CF's are built and tested by hand, they're not all going to be identical, and I think that they're now trying to make too many pads, and they aren't all coming out right.
But the general features remain the same.

I've never played on a decent CF, only the ones at an Anime convention (anime convention = fat otakus = even CF's get beat up), but in my experience, it's really only the feel and how much they slide that I can complain about.
After spending the entire summer on nothing but my tx-1000's, on which you can feel where the panels are seperated like a 4-foot-deep pothole, smooth-transition pads (CF, Nexen, softpads) just don't work for me.
And while I'm used to sliding, I'm not used to the sharp edges of a CF, or the weight, so it's less comfortable adjusting it back into place after every song.
The CF's that I played on had almost nothing in the way of sensitivity (freeze arrows weren't possible for anyone under 150 lbs), but I think that's just because they weren't debowed properly.

I play much better without shoes. Is that OK? As long as I'm careful maybe?

Just make sure to replace the screws (talk to someone who's actually done it for stuff like sizes and stuff), and you might want to pad the edges (I have a friend who cut a pretty good chunck out of his foot on a CF).

I can only pass VerTex in my socks, so just make sure you either step in the middle of the pad, or don't go near the screws as it can cut your feet. frown.gif

Well, my family got up at 4:30 this morning to open gifts (dad leaves for work at 5:30), so I finally uncovered my Flux.

- It's in great shape, no cracks or anything; FedEx did a much better job than I thought they would have.

- My panels were very bowed; I played one song on it at first, and it felt like the panels had to bend an inch to register. Obviously, debowing fixed this. I'm not quite sure I have every panel just right yet, I'll have to make adjustments as I go.

- I played a few songs afterwards and did experience some non-combos, but in my pad's defense, it was 6 in the morning and I basically can't play worth crap because I'm so tired.

So that's all for now, I'm going to bed and will certainly test my pad later on.

Fix'd. i didn't get a CF for x-mas. instead, i got the ITG bundle, and i'm gonna mod the pads. i just hope the pads last until at least June. i guess i'll have to wait 'til i have a job to get a CF. i'll manage.
