|
|
I live in Uniontown, Ohio and the nearest IIDX machine is in Bayshore, New York. (It's just 30 miles from New York City.) I tried to persuade an arcade company that has a location at Wal-Mart and the guy who ran it was really eager to check into the game. I was told, though, that the machine cost more money than he would get out of it. I even told him how players would drive 6 hours to play one.
I need help with knowing which arcades near me would be willing to spend this much money on the machine. If they would be, I can probably persuade them into getting one. If the machine had been cheaper the guy who ran the Wal-Mart arcade (Not closely related to Wal-Mart at all) would have gotten one. |

The truth is, the guy probably won't make his money back. IIDX is expensive and it's really a niche game, and even if people drive 6 hours to visit the machine, they're not going to pump hundreds of dollars into it when they arrive. If you want him to get the machine, you'll probably have to threaten his life or familiy, or something. _________________

Then how come the arcades in California make money off of it?
That's not my main question though. I want to know an arcade near me that would spend that much on the machine. |

Tell him he can make $10 a week off one if he gets it!
People drive six hours to play one? Bullshit.
I have a IIdx and a PopN music an hour away from Kansas City and hardly anyone ever drives up from there. |

Do you really think that $10 a week would have him get a $13,500 machine? That's the money I'd spend myself so if that isn't a joke (tell me if it is or not) I'll tell him that. |

That's my point. It don't make jack so if you want someone to shell out $14k for one, buy it yourself.
I have lots of Bemani and we hardly ever get people in from out of town, definitely not enough to sway the earnings. I think they have to be in a HUGE metro area to make the serious cash.
My lineup: ITG2+, DDR Ex, Pop'n Music 8, IIdx 8th, Para Para, Beatmania Core Remix, and Dance Maniax 2.
I have the biggest collection in Missouri, and the only IIdx and PopN in the entire state. Yet we don't get frequent visits from out of towners. |

Don't bother with IIDX. It's nice, but won't EVER make it's money back if you get a more recent version, and getting an old Style, no one's ever going to play it except maybe the hardcore players.
Let's not talk about other maintanence costs. _________________

What about a large arcade like Dave and Busters. Would they be willing to get one? |

No, that would be a corporate decision anyhow, and I don't think they do anything with imported arcades. Don't bother with Gameworks either because they're cheap (no joke). _________________

My friend told me he saw an Extreme at a Dave & Buster's once. But I doubt they would install a IIDX, since most of the people at a D&B are probably not going to want to play such a bone-crushingly difficult (compared to basically every other music game out there anyway) game. _________________

While we do get out-of-towners, our DMX and BM dont bring in much, but just enough to keep them. _________________

I doubt it...IIDX isn't as widespread in the USA as DDR. You're lucky to have a IIDX machine within 2 hours of you (I have two within an hour, actually lol) _________________
