Is seriously needed as these spambots are getting REALLY annoying. Bemanistyle does it (or used to for 6.0), and it worked there. How come it's not used here?

Yes I know the whole "we're not BMS" response that's probably gonna come, but still doesn't answer why.

I think that there are ways to get around it because I think DDR Freak either utilizes that method or has utilized it in the past; I'm sure it's one or the other.

We had talked about Captcha some time ago. I think it just never got off the ground. It's probably not a bad idea though. If I get some free time I might look into coding it in.

It's not foolproof though - one of the things that they do these days is to middleman-host the images to users (like people maybe signing up for a porn site or something) and make them fill it out, and then they pass the data back through in a script. There might be more sophisticated versions now that have a timeout period built in. I'd have to look.

And yeah, we're not BMS.

We don't flush our user database every time we overhaul the site. Oh wait - we never overhaul the site!

To bring us back to the subject, we now use a "trivia question" upon registration to prevent bots. Yes, the answer is obvious, but it should fool most bots that come across it.

And so far it has worked, we have no new bot registration since we have implemented it and therefore no new bots posts.

You may have seen a few bots here and there over the past few days. This is because I missed them after I banned most of the new bots after we added the new registration question.
