I haven't been playing DDR games for a long time so it's impossible for me to notice a difference in the number of people playing. I've taken a long Stepmania break because my laptop is at gateway for repairs and the computer that I'm using has a terrible keyboard for it. And yeah I pretty much play keyboard files as DDR songs are too easy with the exception of a few flashing tens...and ITG songs are hard to find so I can't really find the twelves and the thirteens that I actually want to play so I just do unofficial songs. <3 Halloween

wow, stepmania during class officialy owns my life.

brought a flashdrive and my headphones to my media class. didnt feel like working so i sat in a corner and played stepmania the entire class on our schools labtops. talk about a big woo!!

I still play SM 3.9. When I don't have nothing to do I play with my keyboard. I have near than 390 songs from DDR. I played SM 4.0 for 1st time a month ago, but when I access to the online server (smoline.us) I never find anybody.

Well...i'm seeing a different route with Stepmania, possibly one you'd never expect...Solo mode. I've been in an IRC channel with Toph (might recognize him for some simfiles such as "the a la menthe") and he is now mostly making Solo 6 panel charts. Solo isn't WIDELY popular right now, but it's growing, and could be A sort of new beginning for stepmania. Another chunk,
and this has been happening since December 2005, are playing online music games such as DJMAX and O2Jam. Most of those people are SMO players though.

I kinda blame the loss of the simfile database at bemanistyle after it went 7.0.

Also, I don't really play stepmania either :X.

I love to play StepMania from time to time. Right now I'm running back through my DDR Extreme folder AAA'ing everything (using IIDX scoring, Marv is 2 DP, Perfect is 1 DP, Great and below is nothing

). Right now I've hit the wall between KB12 and KB13 index, and am now working on spread (I can do KB11's). I've noticed the change in posts here, too. I've become almost an unofficial mod of the StepMania Official Help thread, and no one's asked for a while. By a while, I mean almost a week (I used to get 2-3 a day, and now it's declined to 1 every few days, and even 1 every week). BMS is the place to go now.

I dunno. I mean, I wouldn't really be surprised if it was dying. I sometimes find my self thinking "Wow.... StepMania's boring. I should delete it to save disk space." I just wish we had more fun KB simfiles. Emerald Sword (Skor) was the best I played so far. Plus, we need better music to go with great charts.
