I'm looking for a good dance pad. I recently got two crappy soft pads, and really, they are awful. I can't do anything past basic (I am playing the old konamix) because if I'm doing a fast song the pad slides all over. There is zero grip on the bottom and I can't do the faster songs without falling or the pad literally slipping from underneath me. I can not comprehend how awful the pads are. I don't know what brand they are, I'll get back to on that.

Anyway, I'm thinking about buying a hard-pad/metal-pad. Which brand is good? I would get Cobalt Flux without question but I don't have the cash. I'm looking for a price range of 80-120 US dollars. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'd also appreciate suggestions of high-quality soft pads E1.gif

My softpads were sliding all over the place also, but I modded them to make them stay stationary.

Oh yeah, and do not attempt to get a metal pad for under $200.00 (TX Series/Ninja/etc) The only actual decent metal pads are the Cobalt Flux, the Blueshark, and the Nexen.

Anyway I'd suggst that you'd get one of these foam pads. They're the best foam pads on the market, and they work PS1, PS2, and on the computer for DWI or Stepmania. They have two different styles:

Fusion: http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDR-PCA8/

You may want to check out this thread to see what people have to say about these pads. There are pictures inside too. biggrin.gif

Yeah go with the BuyNShop foam pads; they are very solidly constructed and may last you for quite a while E1.gif

...wait what? You said that you could afford $80.00 - $120.00 and a DX Sparkle or Fusion falls between that price range with shipping and handling.

Did I? No. I said I'm looking for that price range. I never said I had the money. I am just asking to know what I can buy when I do have the money.

By I would get Cobalt Flux without question but I don't have the cash. I'm looking for a price range of 80-120 US dollars it does sound like it's implied, doesn't it? Since you don't even have enough for a decent foam pad, why don't you just wait and get a Cobalt Flux?

Just to add to the confusion, I do have the money. I just want to spend it on the Wii. Right now I am deciding to put myself back for the Wii or get a DDR pad. I'm unsure right now.

my 2 cents on this would be to get the wii, and mod your ddr pad.

In fact, it doesn't have to be clear plastic mats...if you're on a really low budget and have some old rug lying around, put it on top of your pad. For me, the rug seemed heavy enough not to move much, but not too heavy so that the buttons don't stay pressed from the rug.

only drawback is that you would need to mark where the panels are on the carpet with something like masking tape or sth.

E4.gif No, actually, his first three posts were "Shakira is having sex!". He managed to get to this last post before getting banned.

Those foam pads aren't going to last you very long. If you want one that'll last, try to find an Ignition 2.0 or a BNS Sparkle or Fusion pad.

If you can find an Ignition 2.0, go for it. Those lasted me three years before I finally ripped part of my pad open doing VerTex just yesterday. I'm using my other pad for now, but I'm gonna get 2 Bluesharks in December! E4.gif

Go for the BNS, from what I hear (and I hear a lot) they're really great pads. The surface is nice and easy to move on, the foam is nice and dense, and it's quite responcive.
