Really, I just don't understand it. People score on this song as if it's an easy 10 or even a 9, but I just can't get anywhere near where I should be on it by now. Seriously, my current score on Xuxa outmatches that of my top percentage on Charlene. Sure, the runs have easy patterns, but it's difficult to concentrate on getting a good score because of all of the mines. I don't play it that often, but I have at least done it more than some other stuff, so why does everyone else score so well on Charlene, but not me?

Perhaps because you suck at mines, like I do? E4.gif Hit mines = score goes down = awful score.
Although I will admit that it's definitely a very easy 11, it could pass as a hard 10.

Yeah, Charlene could definitely be a 10.

A lot of people find it easy to score on because it's not that fast and has simple patterns. It's a lot harder if you have trouble with mines, though. I wonder if that's why Roxor decided to make it an 11.

Very easy? I could've sworn you scored like a 62% on it in the accomplishments thread =P

Charlene is actually really easy once you know how the step patterns work.

I got an 82.xx on it if I recall correctly. The runs are very simple and straight forward, but I honestly don't think that it could be a ten. All the other tens are much easier than this.

This coming from the person who says the song is easily a 10?

Same thing with Fly With Me and While Tha Rekkid Spinz, and those are 9's

Personally, I believe it recieved the 11 rating because Roxor thought that the arrowsmash community would still be adjusting to mines. SOme people caught on to mines very fast so Charlene was a breeze even in the ITG1 days for them, but other people years afterward still struggle with mines and thus still agree with the 11 rating.

I personally find it as a high-end 10. Calling it a low-end 10 would be exaggerating it and making it too easy, because face it, it has extended 16th streams and fairly annoying jackhammers with mines, not to mention the step jumps.

That being said, having it the low end 11 that it is doesn't really bother me because it makes the difficulty ladder for ITG work unlike DDR's where 10 is so miles from 9, there is some NECESSARY overlap in ITG.

I got a 99.02 on this the other day.
I haven't even gotten half of the 9's ***'d yet.
Trust me, it's a 10.

Trust me, it might not even be the mines.
Usually everyone has a tendency to rush on this song especially at the beginning.

Just kinda get that down.

Then during the mine section's, just put a little more hop in your step, thats all there is to it.

Whether Charlene is a "10" or "11" depends entirely on what the understood medium for both difficulties is. If you're going by the logic of the average 11 being the difficulty of say Xuxa, then its an easy 11. If Monolith/Destiny/HxC Symph is your idea of the average 11, then it'd probably fall into the lines of a harder 10 by comparision.

Me, going by the people i've seen that are currently struggling with that difficulty range, i've seen people passing Robotox before they could get through Charlene, and I doubt too many people deem Robotix a 10, so i'll say it's an 11.

Though granted, this is one of my higher scored 11s *99.80*, it's still an 11 nonetheless.

With the exception of Tension; I had never played that song before I made that statement. I just played it now and I can honestly say that it's the hardest 10 I've ever played.

O.o.

10s that I think are harder than Charlene, or at least harder to score on.

Soapy Bubble
Disconnected Hyper
Bouff

and possibly Hillbilly HxC and Sweet World.

I've played those, and I still consider Charlene harder than all of them; I can just get better scores on Charlene.

Well, based on what everyone else has on it, yes. Note that I never stated that I have trouble passing it (beat it first time with ease, before I could pass many 10's), but that I personally couldn't score on it for some reason. Difficulty to score on has no effect on a song's rating (Tribal Style, anyone?).

Just to settle this conflict a bit, I actually just got 97.74 on it last night after I submitted the topic, and that's at least halfway decent for my skill level. However, I'm still a bit surprised by how well most people score on it.
