My 12 year old daughter has asked for DDR Extreme 2 for her birthday next week. She also said that she wants two dance pads so that her and her friend can do it at the same time. I don't know the first thing about the DDR. We have a PS2. What do I need to buy her? Do I just buy the PS2 game, and 2 dance pads? Is there anything I need to know when I go to buy it? Where's the best place to buy it? Thanks for any help you can give me......

An out of touch Mom

Before I can truly help you I need to know if your daughter has ever played the game before. If I was you and she never played it before, I would just buy the bundle for DDR Extreme 2. The bundle includes the game and one dance pad. The both of them can take turns. The reason I am suggesting that you buy one dance pad is so they can learn how to play. Eventually you can buy a dance pad seperate. Hope this helps.
P.S. DDR is a great game that can help you lose weight and develop coordination while having fun! Wow I made this cheesey

She has played at a friends party. Is there a benefit to two people doing it at the same time? I don't want to spend a lot because I don't know how much she will play with it.

Not really, besides more total playing time.

I would reccommend what I did back in the day: Get a single soft pad, and if she decides she really likes the game after a couple of months, get a nicer, more durable pad (like an Ignition style pad, which is like a softpad but with a 1" thick hard foam insert in it; for more information about these types of pads, check out the Bemani Controllers board on here).

And if you get a softpad dont let her play without socks on she could rip the mat pad thing.

Another thing you can do with two pads is play doubles mode. Doubles is where one person plays with two pads. So instead of four arrows there are eight. I don't think that your daughter will be doing that for a while. I have been playing DDR for 3 years and I just started doubles. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your help. I think I'll just get the bundle for now and see how she does.
