If you prefer DDR, then that's wonderful for you. I enjoy that game as well. I just happen to like ITG more. So who cares?

EXACTLY!
I yearn for the days before the konami acquisition. We actually were "civil" to each other compared to now.

Also, EBT, I know who you are, I have been on these boards for years. Granted, you have about 13x as many posts as me, and you have been on longer. Just cause you have been here longger though does NOT make you superior though.

Am I the only one who thought that that "mine" post was obviously meant in a joking tone?

tell that to MIKE from Santee.

Why, does he have several AAAAs and tons of SDPs? If not, then it's completely irrelevant.

i really do not need to defend mike.

luck? adjust yourself. go look at the supernova IR yourself. there are plenty of people that can score marvelouses very well. you want the game to be easier; but OH WAIT, theres no challange in DDR anyway, cuz the stepcharts are all so stupid, boring, and easy. sarc.gif if you are skilled enough, hitting within the marveous window is not an insurmountable task by any means; and if you get a perfect, you have to be open to the fact that it might actually be your fault (i know its a hard concept for some people to grasp).

you're just a home player arent you?

Heh, I don't say this very often, but...shut up. The newest home versions all have Marvelous display in normal play, and MAing at home is a hell of a lot more difficult than PAing at the arcade.

i could poke fun at the notion of a "serious" home player, but it's just too easy.

again, you say this from what appears to be no experience.

Correct, I haven't played post-patch SN yet, hence "from what I've heard". If SN's syncing is actually fixed completely, then that's awesome.

so... you shut up until you have something substantial to add. if other people have their experience, let them post. because since you havent played, you obviously dont know for sure what you are talking about. you sat and gave ABC crap for doing what you are doing now.

Seriously, it's elitists like this who come here and say "I've played longer than you and I've been a loser that's posted on a frick message board longer than you so your thoughts don't matter and everyone must listen to me" and this type of elitism is why I never really got into DDR in the first place. And to the person that quit 4-panel and started playing pump, I play it b/c in my opinion it's the superior game. Plus the community doesn't have this kinda crap to deal with.

Man, if someone else's statements that THEY THINK are fact aren't, it usually does people a lot better (and yourself as well) to say, "You know what..this and this is how it is." WITHOUT attacking them. You're making yourself look like a n00b and someone frankly without a life. It's hard to believe that not everyone lives on DDRfreak or plays 24/7 like you and your friend you keep refering to. So, basically I'm saying STFU and grow up.

Thank you. E13.gif I wanted to say something like that, but I figured I would just get carried away and end up flaming him.

Edit: cfusion, I'm still waiting for your explanation of why home players can't play the game seriously. Or did you decide it would be better not to say anything?
Edit 2: And if you do decide to respond, be sure to address what I said about home MAing being harder than arcade PAing. This is something I know from experience. Also, don't forget about ITG PS2.

i hardly play 24/7. i play maybe once a week for a couple of games, if i have time; i'm a full time student, 5 days a week at UCSD. i havent played in any sort of seriousness for over 2 and a half years now, but have been playing since 1999. i dont "live" here, but it is a board i primarily frequent (along with idforums.net). note the join date as well. ive been in this community a lot longer than the vast, vast, majority of this forum. (bonus for those who remember the ultraboard days). i'm hardly a n00b, and i really dont care what you think of me. as for mike, he plays seriously because hes a competetor. he competes on the IR which, if you look at it, NO ONE ELSE in the US seems to be doing. theres more to competing beyond just groovestats/ddrecall and tournaments. he juggles ddr as his primary hobby and usually fits in a day a week around his full time job schedule to practice and play. but really, i cant stress enough how much i dont really care how you personally percieve me or him.

actually, since early afternoon, i was gone at the arcade smashing a few arrows.

edited: i had this big long thing typed up about why i think home versions are totally irrelevant to the arcade, and pretty much meaningless, but i figured not to even bother. the main point is you can play as seriously as you want at home, but untill you actually do something physically in an arcade on an arcade machine, then it has no relevance to the arcade machines in question.

Did you remove it because you realized it was wrong? I can't think of any other reason to edit out a large portion of a post, especially when you continue the argument after doing so.

cfusionpm wrote:

I've played on several arcade machines. I don't have enough experience with courses to know personally whether Marvs are "too" precise, so I used information from sources I believe to be credible (and even said that I was going off of what I'd heard). I was wrong. But we've already established all of this, so what does it have to do with anything now? More specifically, what does it have to do with what you actually said earlier? I'm talking about this:

cfusionpm wrote:

You fail to mention that being a home player doesn't give me enough background to participate in this argument by providing evidence based on personal experience (not that it matters, since that's not what I was trying to do anyway). All you say is that the idea of a serious home version player is laughable. So when I question you on that, you give me an answer that looks like it's related to what I asked, but is really just a reiteration of something that's water under the bridge by now.

So are you going to poke fun at the notion of a "serious" home player or not?

Buddy just end it please. It's over, now before you say Cfusion brought it up and accuse me of siding just chill and listen. Quite simply it goes Matt does not believe that you as a home player should make remarks regarding arcade timing windows, and you believe that since he's not a home player he shouldn't remark about if ma'ing at home is harder than pa'ing in the arcade. With that said the reason he brought up Mike from Santee was because he is a very good player with a immense knowledge of the timing windows. You are very good on home versions and matt and mike are very good at the arcade so lets just please end this argument and get back to what we all have in common playing some arrow smash and having fun E1.gif

Again, that has nothing to do with this anymore. I just want to know what's so ridiculous about the idea of a serious home version player. If he tells me that that's not what he meant, then I'll drop it.

I had this big long thing typed up about how lame it is to tell someone they're not worth arguing with when they have presented you with several valid arguments. I also included a list of reasons why the "opinions can't be right or wrong" thing is ridiculous.

Oh but I deleted it. I swear.
