I don't see why this topic is even still open. As you can clearly see:

FINALLY, THANK YOU..god.... this thread died about 10 pages back. even my post on page 18 said this.
it's becoming redundant, poinless, and off topic.
and even when it is "on topic", it's just the same crap spewed over and over and over.. _________________

...Sorry, I HAVE to get into this agrument. If you drop a rock on a VCR, it breaks. But if you drop a VCR on a rock, the VCR still breaks. And yes, if you drop a VCR on a VCR, they both break. Solution? This thread needs more cowbell.
...</posting in legendary thread>
But seriously, this thread should probably be locked for a while, at least until we get more news, but that's up to the admins. Besides, this is the most fun thread in a while =P _________________

Ah, I still remember the good old days when we'll all sit around playing Rock, Paper, VCR, Scissors.
The main reason that I posted is that I wanted to ask a simple question: is it my prediction that got you so upset, or the way I put it?
If it's the prediction, then I'm confused than ever as to why you don't simply explain the fault in my logic, based on the evidence available. If you're going to claim that the logic is faulty simply because there isn't enough evidence, tell me why that is the case. That's like saying what I said is automatically groundless because it might be wrong. Instead of doing that, tell me why I should not interpret this as the end of In the Groove. I gave a very clear explanation for my beliefs on this subject, and the only real grounds on which you should feel the need to argue what I said are that a: my logic isn't sound, or that b: my conclusion does not support the available evidence. What you're saying is that there isn't enough evidence, and that is purely a subjective matter.
On the other hand, if you don't like what I said because of the way I said it, then you have my apologies. What I meant to say was that, given the progression of events up to this point, and given the information that is available to the public right now, I have been given no reason to believe that there will be a new In the Groove game released. This is my opinion, and I in no way mean to represent it as absolute. If I have done so, it was unintentional, and I will try to be clearer in the future. At any rate, what I said before still stands: if it turns out that sometime down the road there is another ITG game released, I will publicly admit that I was wrong about this. However, if no one can explain, based on the evidence given, how and why there will be another game in the series, then there really is no reason for you to take exception to what I've said.
That said, I'm trying not to argue just for the sake of arguing. I know that I could have just shut up and left this alone (as I usually try to do nowadays), but I also want to clarify what I'm saying because I don't want people to think that I'm looking down on them for not seeing things the way I do. You see, I try not to have preconceptions about people's intelligence. I speak to everyone in pretty much the same fashion, and try not to make assumptions. Sometimes when I do so, it comes off sounding rude, and for that, I apologize.
And besides, Kilroy isn't a VCR. He's more like a DVD-R drive with a toaster attached. _________________

As opposed to...
My reduced opinion on this: Hopefully Konami adopts some of the innovations ITG came up with (percentage scoring, rolls, survival mode, lots of mods) and absorbs it into the DDR franchise, creating a game that will please both ITG and DDR fans. I truly think Konami could release a game that retains the pop/fun of DDR and the hardcore-ness of ITG if they had a competent team dedicated to creating a really good game. If that involves say, hiring Kyle Ward and teaming him up with KHz or DJ Taka or whoever, all the better. _________________

lol @ 2 pages ago about ITG having innovative features.
Hands are something that still requires to touch the panels.
Mines are something that still requires you not to touch.
Rolls are just fast runs but without the proper placement.
Not innovative.
..but seeing as those had little or nothing to do with the lawsuit...I will say the same damn thing I did on BMS:
"You can't tell me that ITG was not a clone of DDR - mods, noteskins, charts, hands - that shit doesn't matter. It still uses four arrows, in similar shape, with same gameplay tactics and everything else that is DDR. They couldn't sue PIU, because PIU -is- different. Cabinet design, gameplay design, different engine. the ITG engine is very much based on the DDR engine (at least Stepmania is) - doesn't matter if the code is different, it is still 99% exact of how DDR plays. End of story. PLUS, it did not help Roxor one damn bit for the Boxor idea.
Saying Konami's machines were illegal is like saying bootlegs are okay, but you know what...they're illegal. Bootlegs, like that of movies or videogames, are owned by the property owner, whether it be a movie studio or a video game - company - they are illegal 'brought over' in a sense, and even if the original cabinets were not 'legally' brought over from Japan, Konami still owns them and Roxor infringed on that right. That is what the whole lawsuit was about."
Yes, I am lazy and love cut and paste. |

Yes, this does seem like a likely scenario, particularly when you think about the changes made to Supernova being very much along these lines. For instance, while they didn't precisely do a percentage tracker like ITG did, they DID make the score divisible in such a way that it is now quite easy to keep track of your DP percentage as you play. In addition, Supernova DOES incorporate a few new modifiers. So, yes, I can see something like this happening. _________________

every score you recieve in supernova is a straight up DP%. 10,000,000 points = 100%; 9,782,291 points = 97.82291%. thankfully they ditched the combo and cumulative exponential score calculators of the past. _________________

Impossible. You used 3 decimals places, which obviously means you are smart.
And you are forgetting that there are different types of rock. If you dropped a VCR on a piece of talc, the VCR would still break simply because it was dropped, but it would most likely take the talc along with it. _________________

i see this often and i cannot stress enough that reselling is as legal in japan as it is in america konami stops getting to say where you put a machine once they sell it to you (legally speaking of course they can still refuse to service or even blacklist machines or companies that let stuff go where konami dosnt want it but thats not the same as it actually being illegal) _________________

As a side note, Konami, make the right move. Keep making both games and reap the profits from both ends of the fence. Let the ITG players play ITG and the DDR players play DDR, and the fence riders play both.
Either way, it's now profit for you. Exploit it. |
Sorry, still here.
I just commute a lot.
Personally, I wouldn't care if Konami keeps it or not, or even runs in the ground.

If I sell you a bike I can write "For sale and use only by people named Nigel" but that doesn't mean you riding it is illegal. _________________

I'm sure DDR will continue to be incredibly awesome with no competition whatsoever.
You do realize that with no competition the market will become stagnant and you will get absolute crap products, right? This goes for everyone else high-fiving Konami for potentially dissolving their only competition, too. Is that really want you guys want, just one game, no variety, no competition, no choice at all?
How would you guys feel if you went to the store to buy a new pair of shoes, and there was only one pair to choose from? |
