Derek,

There have been many changes over the past three weeks. In The Groove 2 is being acquired by another company. The price will be going up quite a bit, and, we will no longer be able to offer you the free upgrade to In The Groove 3. All I can promise you is that I will request that the new company give you the free upgrade as well. We WILL however honor the quoted price from Ryan Gibson. Support will still be offered through Roxor Games.

Thank you very much for your business.

Chris Cotty
Director of Sales

Wow, I have no idea. But from the looks of what itg freak said, Konami might buy it out, ruin it, and then try to sell it to us at a larger price. =/ I was really looking forward to ITG PS2. I hope it won't suck now.

Yup.

Atleast when ITG gets all fucked up, we can upgrade old itg2 dedicab machines ourselves.

If things get royally screwed up, I bet the ITG community as a whole will come up with something to keep the game going.

Why would they ruin it? If they bought the product just to take it off the market, they'd just sit on it. They wouldn't spend money to ruin the franchise's brand integrity.

God, some of you people are just complete fanatics.

Followup - I read the ITG Freak thread, and I love how people talk about how awful DDR fans are when there are gems like this to look at:

I doubt that this will change the game for the worse, but I'm guessing it will delay ITG3 even more. Maybe this is somehow the reason behind the AMOA incident.

Yup, many ITGFreak-goers love to spit on Didderfreak for being full of "noobs", but ITGFreak certainly has its share of idiots.

This isn't necessarily indicative of a problem with DDR or its fanbase. It's probably simply a matter of scale.

Well, I don't know if I'd go that far, but I am skeptical at this point. Chris Cotty really does exist in some sales capacity for Roxor (He's pretty much the "Director" by default, rather than that being his official title as stated on the Roxor website), but beyond that, we know nothing of either this company or Derek other than a post or two he made on ITGFreak.

As I stated there, I'll believe it when I see a press release from Roxor, and given their history, maybe not even then.

It kinda sounded like a hoax to me, and suddenly it's like wildfire and being posted everywhere. Something so big and dramatic would have been rather hush-hush, ESPECIALLY since Roxor's involved in a court case and is required to notify the court if they're merging or acquired by another company. No such notification has happened yet.

Also, who would buy a company whose very future lies in the fate of a lawsuit?

I'm not saying it's definitely fake, but I'm skeptical right now.

Lawsuits in general are making me sad now.

Seriously, the dance community would probably play dance games more if they existed.

Duh

Cutriss, they just had ITG2 acquired by "another Company".

There was no settlement nor a acquisition of the "Company Roxor" nor a "Merger"

Roxor stays Roxor w/o ITG2,
and that is mainly the Reason, why you do not find anything on PACER.

That doesn't really make sense.

You guys keep saying "ITG2" like that's the only one getting acquired. If they're selling off the ITG series, then just say "the ITG series", not "ITG2". What you guys are saying (and this is really kinda silly) is that Roxor is selling off the rights to all production and materials in ITG2, while retaining the right to continue producing new games in the series (presumably). That's just...kinda...unlikely.

If they're selling the ITG series itself, then that's something else entirely, but it still remains a fact that the legal status of the series is in question, and they can't transfer ownership of intellectual property that may soon be declared unlawful.

This is really, really, really sketchy right now without any official or even semi-official word, and all this speculation really is kinda dumb until then. It's doing little more than fostering ever-growing rumors. Next thing I know, I'm going to be reading that they're selling ITG2 without mines/rolls, and that they have a secret patent on mines and are going to sit on it, etc etc etc.

Okay, I think I figured this out.

It's just that the guy that wrote this e-mail lacks mastery of the English language.

If it's just ITG2 that's being acquired, how does that affect the upgrade pricing for ITG3, which is presumably still owned by Roxor?

And how can Chris Cotty request that the company buying only ITG2 give Derek a free upgrade to ITG3, a product that Company X is apparently not buying?

I'm still no more than 30% sure that this is legit. The people on ITG Freak are running with it, naturally, but they also seem to be under this misguided belief that Avex forced Konami to cancel PPP, and that Konami only recently acquired the magical "dancing games patent". That thread is full of all manner of nonsensical speculation and rumor.

i'm guessing all it means is they got a new company to make the ITG2 cabs....which i'm hoping its andamiro. The andamiro-made ITG2 cabs were amazing! same with PIU GX cabs, which in turn are what the ITG2 cabs were based on!
