If you were to have a simfile with a song longer than 2 minutes...would it simply cut off at the 2 minute mark or would the machine not play it at all? |
You'd pick the song, the machine would load it, and then give you a message saying your simfile is too long for you and randomly pick a song for you Chance style.
Me - Tries 2:05 Eggman Quasar
Machine - "NO" *Picks Pande for me*
Me - >.>. |
I would think the irony would be greater if it gave you, say, Hardcore of the North, with is actually a couple seconds longer than that particular edit. _________________

The R21 patch was installed in my local arcade on saturday morning... now i was there on friday night before.. when it was still an R8 Lol. but the pads were working fairly well. every now and then it would be so good but still. i managed to get a few **'s and *'s I went back the next day to try it out.. and well the pads were acting up horribly. random misses, way offs, and then sometimes it would register as a great, but it would seem like the pad was lagging to the machine or somethign. i dont know if its because it is on an upgrade or what?
but its lame as helllllllllz |

I have a simfile that I cut the song to 1:59 and the steps keep going for about another minute and it went fine. Just no music. So, if you're really dying to play certain files than you can do it. |
| I don't know huge amounts about digital audio encoding, but based on what I've seen in my own media files, I'd bet you could probably manually change the specified length tag, or modify the file in some other way so as to shorten the "declared" duration, but the game will probably still keep loading audio frames until the song is over.
Just a guess. _________________

I was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago when WMP screwed up the length of a song I was playing, but it kept playing.
If I can get access to an r21 cabinet, I'll give it a shot. _________________

You can start by capitalizing the first letter of the first word of each of your sentences.
Read the first page of this thread, or go to stepmania or roxorgames or even that website that someone posted here that automatically converts your mp3s to oggs.
Then read the rest of the numerous guides that are posted on how to put them on a USB card and all the rest of that stuff. _________________

First of all, don't criticize people's grammar on an Internet message board. It's impolite, irrelevant, and unnecessary.
For instance, it would be rude of me to point out that Stepmania and Roxor Games should be captalized, and that the company name "Roxor Games" is comprised of two separate words. Not to mention the redundancy of using the word "or" three times in a single sentence.
As a professional in both creative and technical writing that knows the English language front and back, I can't stand to see a rank amateur presume to bully someone about their grammatical mistakes. Take some basic college-level language arts classes, then we'll talk about it. As for right now, you should observe the old saying: "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."
Getting back to the subject at hand, I'm happy to say that an arcade near my place actually upgraded their Boxor to R21, and I'm really looking forward to trying some of my edits out on it today.
However, like one of the previous posters, my machine is also starting to act up in terms of pad Greats and other timing glitches. Considering I go for all of my high scores on a different machine, it is a small price to pay for custom songs, but it's still something to take note of. His was not an isolated incident. _________________

so whats stopping people from blaring blatantly vulger and/or offensive music or sound files throughout places like a family arcade frequented by children and their parents? just curious of the repercussions of allowing any user to upload ANY audio file to play on a public machine; not to mention the possible legal issues of playing other copywritten music. but hey, this is roxor; i wouldnt expect them to care about little details like that. _________________

These are all end-user things. The arcade manager can assign whatever policies he wants regarding songs; I presume if he wants to keep a family-oriented environment, he can either leave the feature disabled, or enforce strict penalties against anyone who breaks the rules. As for playing copyrighted music, once again, it's his decision as to whether or not he wants to allow that kind of potential. For some kind of massive arcade that more of a decision, for smaller ones (like those part of a small minigolf place), I seriously doubt Konami will show up at their arcade and be like "hay that's our music lolsuit." _________________

I didnt say anything about capitalizing proper words. All I said was to capitalize the first letter of each sentence. This is DDRFreak, you know grammar is a strict rule. I have horrible grammar myself, as you said. However, I dont make that stupid of posts anymore...

so you are saying roxor holds absolutely no responsibility for the content submitted by means of this patch; which they put out themselves for the sole intent of letting users upload and play whatever they want, with absolutely no restrictions other than a limit of 120 seconds? _________________

Most arcades love Uncle Fucker, Get Low, Super Duper Man, etc. being played all day. It makes them all tingly inside. _________________

I think they're no more liable than a group that releases a build of Bit Torrent, or some P2P software, or someone selling, say, a knife (knowing full well that it COULD be used to harm someone). _________________

while i personally dont know the laws, and i really dont care enough to resarch it, it also seems odd that its ok for them to invite and purposefully make it available for people to load on and play music they (roxor) do not own, nor have they licensed. what response have they given to this, if any? i mean, i know roxor is a shady company anyway, and they always seem to have a quick PR response for their fan-pleasing corner-cutting; im just also curious what legal implications this has. _________________

I did help. I told you 3 different ways how to find out how to do it.
I guess I forgot to mention www.itgfreak.com.
As it says there...
itgfreak's home page wrote: | In the 'In The Groove 2' folder on your pen drive, Create a Songs folder. Inside of the songs folder place in whichever simfiles you wish to use. NOTE: The simfiles MUST be in OGG format. The simfiles do not have to be in 'Group' folders but may be. Any song's folder in your pen drive's Song folder will appear on the machine next time you play. As long as the customs songs option is on in the ops menu all you have to do is insert your pendrive and start the game. When you start there will be a folder for your song's in the scroll wheel. The Machine DOES NOT save the songs to the machine, it just plays them off of your pendrive. For example, on the ITG2 machine my card name is AnthonyTGA, on the scroll wheel I see 'In The Groove', 'In The Groove 2' and 'AnthonyTGA's Songs' and all of my songs are playable.
Enjoy! |
Just in case,
By songs folder, they mean a folder named Songs.
And to get the sm, take it from the stepmania folder. If its in .dwi format and not .sm, open the song in the step editor, save, then close. Then you'll have it. _________________
