Well, the reason I can't really enjoy ITG is the music, but still, when I finally get to play it, it'll end up catching on, so it shouldn't be that big.

I don't think so. Because this will only work off USB ports, what is the arcade going to do? Put all the ITG3 songs on a flash drive, plug it in permanently and block the ports off so nobody else can use them?

This only works for individuals who take the time to put songs on their USB drives, and the people that play with them. Everyone else will have to stick with what's on the machine, which is why the upgrades to ITG3 will happen.

As far as legality issues are concerned: this is no more illegal than bringing a boombox to the arcade, placing it next to the machine and having it play a CD while you stomp, then taking it home when you leave. The songs are never actually stored on the machine, and as soon as you remove your USB drive at the end of the game, they cease to exist. There is no way to prove that RoXoR makes a profit off of, say, Konami's music, as the feature is optional and ITG2 was not sold for this purpose. I think it would be very difficult to show that this is somehow illegal.

And as far as upgrading to R21 vs. not upgrading, or arcades not liking this... didn't anyone read the part that says this feature is OPTIONAL, and is even set to off by default? There is not even a guarantee that your local arcade will use it.

Why, because you don't like actual dance music as opposed to J-Pop and techno (which ITG also has)? You really should try playing it.

How is that surprising (unless you mostly play Konami games)? Kind of one of Roxor's trademarks.

Okay the 2 minute thing kinda makes me sad because I think some of my favorite files (EXE, Quasar, Ub3r R4v3) are over that 2 minutes.. can anyone with these files check the length for me (im at work and I can't check them myself)

PS. Thanks Roxxor <3

EDIT: Downloaded to my USB Drive on break and checked them. Uber Rave and Quasar are both over by a little bit.. this really sucks why couldn't they just take two songs from your credit or something E2.gif

The reasoning behind the 2 minute cutoff, I believe, is so that it makes ITG3 still a very necissary upgrade. That and they want to still have some control over the players and how long they can actually play. I can see someone loading up a 14 minute song or something rediculous like that.

I think it's a good move by RoXoR, but I get a bad vibe from it about future ITG releases frown.gif

Here's how I see this legally.

Essentially you're just playing Stepmania when you load these songs up.
They aren't being put on the machine. YOU. The owner of the SimFile is.

Bill Nye Survivor FTW!

So far, Ive seen the following played.

Stupid Motherfucker (mindless self indulgence)
Uncle Fucker (from south park)
Super Duper Man (hahahah godliest simfile ever.)

This was actually a pretty stupid thing to do, arcades have no control over what you play.

Dont expect arcades to have this option enabled for long.

Yesterday one of the guys working at the arcade I go to upgraded our upgradocab to R21. He was able to use his flash drive to play some songs on there; it worked. The problem was that the pads started giving loads of pad Greats and Excellents. So he downgraded to R-whatever the machine was before.

I got to play Beethoven Virus.

ya

Question.
If you were to have a simfile with a song longer than 2 minutes...would it simply cut off at the 2 minute mark or would the machine not play it at all?

From what I've heard, the machine won't play it at all.

Oh, and this is interesting:

Also, I found an exploit. If you cut the songs down to 1:59 and don't take the steps out, the steps will complete til the end. I have a simfile that I cut the song to 1:59 and the steps keep going for about another minute and it went fine. Just no music. So, if you're really dying to play certain files than you can do it.

You'd pick the song, the machine would load it, and then give you a message saying your simfile is too long for you and randomly pick a song for you Chance style.

Me - Tries 2:05 Eggman Quasar
Machine - "NO" *Picks Pande for me*
Me - >.>.

There's also a 5MB limit on the size of the .ogg. Found that one out the hard way when my Max 300 file was too big and it gave me an Anet song.

If there's one thing this patch has done, it's given me a new repect for all the step writers out there. I edited a song down to 1:58 and tried to write some steps for it and found out that the music is going off sync during it.

so my question is, anyone know how to program a scroll stop?
