I have begun developing my own DDR pad design, focusing on durability, and accuracy to the arcade pad. When it comes to wiring however, I am kind of stuck. I want to take the existing wiring from two dead DDR pads and utilize that, but I am unsure as to whether I can do this without needing to use the chip in the black control box in the front of the foam pad. Is it possible, and where can I get a good diagram of the wiring in a PS2 controller, with an explination of each wire's function?

If this idea/concept is totally offbase, can somebody give me a crash course on properly using salvaged PS2 foam pad wiring for a metal DDR pad project? E15.gif

Well, all you need is 5...

Ok.. on most ps2 controllers, there will be 4 visible solderign leads. Look at where the button pusher things are at, below it will be something that either looks liek # or like [ ]. Look at the brakets or squigles. both are acutally two halfs. find the half that connects to all of them. Thats the ground, or common conection. This will wire up to all 4 arrows. Eaithe rlook for the soldering spot, or scratch off some green stuff (its onl;y paint) and solder to it.

Then, look for the ones on the other half for the squigs or brakets. there will be a small soldering spot to solder to.

Now, for pics...

you can use the soft pad main circuit board, and i recommend it!

the wiring is a LOT easier using the soft pad boards instead of the ps2 controllers...trust me blink.gif

Yesterday, I took my three dead foam pads, and threw them away.... but not before salvaging the vital wiring for making a metal pad. !!! riiight.gif
