this happens a lot to me from black people, stupid white people, and little kids, but it's been said a lot: jumping up on the pad and acting like an buttocks. last time i was at MIT and it happened, ZZZ kicked the kid for me. biggrin.gif

I am. I have 6 kids, and I play DDR with my oldest about an hour a day at home. We've only played DDR at the arcade once so far. I'm amazed and appalled reading about all the rudeness of people's experiences at the arcade. My kids know not to EVER bother anyone playing any game at the arcade. The parents who don't watch their kids, don't teach them manners, let them run wild all over the arcade, and blame the other person if their kids get stomped on are idiots.

the worst thing that has happened to me is one day I was doing a set of 9 footers and I had the machine sitting on my next song but I was waiting for the timer to run out so I could catch my breath. then some little kid comes running by and starts hitting the song selection arrows and selects some stupid song and hits enter. I was so mad I walked off and have not been back.

In that case, you are a good parent. I like parents that do that, it helps with not being distracted while playing.

Aw, thanks. *blush* I have a real problem with parents who don't take responsibility for their kids and who think they should be allowed to get away with everything. Those are the kids who are going to grow up to be the rude ones at the arcade, and even worse as adults.

I can't say my kids haven't been stomped on, but that's been at home. The toddlers sometimes stray onto the pads when they know they're not supposed to, and they suffer the consequences! LOL They need to learn that some things you just have to stay away from. I actually haven't taken any of the younger kids to the arcade (except the baby, but she doesn't count yet). The little ones wouldn't have any fun, and they'd be too hard to watch and keep out of trouble.

I think I recognize your sig from another DDR forum.

Really? Was it the CF boards? Because if it wasn't, then someone stole my signature banner, and that just wouldn't be right.

Yeah, that's where I've seen you! I haven't been to the CF board in a week or so. We got our CFs about 2 weeks ago. I love them, so much better than the plastic pads we had before.

People who think I am hogging the machine to myself when they simply have not spoken up or have not put a coin on the machine. Don't just sit there staring especially when I step off the machine after a game, get a drink, take a deep breath, stretch and reach for more tokens. Take that opportunity to play!

Also, people who play nothing but old songs on a Supernova, not even attempting a new song as their last... I mean the Supernova is 4 tokens for 3 songs, the Extreme is 3 tokens for 4 songs.... Why pay more for the song old stuff that's harder to PA?!?!

pfft...appearently they have not even moved on.or they might be scared to fail since they have an audience.that is probably the main reason why for the old songs.yeah for a new machine i wholly agree with you ,try out some of the new songs.it would not hurt to try.

Yeah, that hogging thing is stupid. When it comes to those people, you could finish your round, walk slowly to the bar to get a drink, come back 4 miniutes later, play agian, and have them say "Hey! Stop hogging the machine!"

Anime or Music game fanboys/girls.

Hell, that's 3/4 of the fanbase right there.

about 95% of the DDR population who take it seriousely are music game fanboys/girls. And not to be stereotypical, but lots of DDR players like anime....wth is wrong with that?

I was at a tournament where some guy just let his kid run across the board in the middle of gameplay. What is up with that?
I would never let my son do that.. or rather.. he knows better..

Also, this is more just common sense in an arcade.. when you have one of those "free play" nights and people are waiting.. let them have a turn.. and same goes on the other end (which I heard someone mention earlier).. if you are not standing there waiting or have not made any attempt to let the dancer know you are waiting, don't get all pissed when he/she goes again..

After reading roughly 104 of the (at the time of this posting) 113 pages of this thread, I've come to one conclusion.

My arcade pwns. riiight.gif

Seriously. Pretty much everything mentioned here would tick me off...if it actually happened where I play. (For those curious, I play at the arcade in Northwoods Mall, in Charleston, SC.)

I know at least a dozen other people at this arcade that are ridiculously good. They aren't elitists. I've asked them for tips, and generally everyone is pretty nice to everyone else. So far, in the 2-3 months I've been seriously playing there, no arguments or anything of any kind, sans a mix-up in a coin line once that was easily resolved after a minute of tracing it.

Now. We move to the ice palace nearby.

Hatred.

I've played there twice. I will not return. Main reason is because the pad sucks. However, when it's your first few times seriously playing on a metal pad, you're getting B's and A's on Standard-level songs, and generally having fun...and then some guy walks up, says NOTHING, starts to versus you without asking, and then proceeds to A and AA every song he plays on Heavy simply for the fact of showing you up, then walks off AGAIN saying nothing, even after I complimented him?

Yeah. Little anger issue there.

I have a short temper reserved for people who can't be sociable.

Other than that, I've had two instances of kids walking on the pad. I was playing Single once, and a kid jumped up on the 2P left arrow, dangerously close to where I was doing a Heavy song. I managed to not hit the kid, not lose my combo, as well as not lose sight of the screen, all while motioning the kid off of the pad.

Then, while I was playing Double once on Honey Punch, I believe, a kid jumps on the 1P pad directly in front of me as I move from the 2P pad back. I dodge the kid pretty easily, and he hops off again after his parent tells him to. Nothing major in either occurance.

However, if the stuff hits the fan at any point, rest assured, there will be a story. E4.gif

And another I just remembered. I'm an 18-year old guy who has a love for J-Pop. The first person to make fun of me for playing Candy<3, Love <3 Shine, or anything by BeForU/Riyu Kosaka, I may break their face. riiight.gif

Nothing is wrong with liking it. Obsessing over it, now, that's another story.

What I don't like is when some DDR haters come up and start watching you. I had someone do that to me. They came up and said, "do Butterfly" in a really sarcastic voice. Those kind of people just annoy me.

Yeah, it's also really annoying to hear the common

"You suck, I can do better.. No, I won't try because I don't wanna waste my money on that crap."

That really annoys me, also, the people who just decide to play 2P with you without asking... I'm just brave enough to hit double and say "Thank You for the credit =D" (Haven't got beaten up yet... luckilly theres always a parent that sticks around and plays at the machine...addict)
