DDR Soft Pad Slipping

Heya everyone,

Is there a way to hold the soft pads flat to the ground? When we play the game the corners pull up and if you have a song that has a large amount of steps, the pad wrinkles up. Then we have to get off the pad and smooth it out to be able to do the steps again. I don't really want to have to use duct tape. Since that would get adhesive residue on the pad and carpet floor.

Any ideas anyone??

Maybe you could get some velcro that is sticky on the back and put it on the bottom of your pad under the arrows or in the corners. Then it would stick to the carpet and would stay pretty stationary. If you're doing harder songs it might fray the carpet a little, I'm not sure. I'm sure you could find the velcro at Home Depot or Lowes.

Another thing you could do it the softpad mod, as seen here. It will make your softpad play a little better too. If you don't particularly like that version, Google it and I'm sure you'll find a lot of other similar ways to mod softpads.

I'd also recommend modding your soft pad to a wood board. If not, Home Depot/Wal Mart/Lowe's all have rug gripping tape that is used to keep rugs from sliding on the floor.

The softpad mod that The Commodore posted is great. I modded one of my softpads like that and it turned out great. The only thing is that the measurements on the page for the board actually turns out smaller than the board pictured. It's pretty much exactly the same size as a softpad for a perfect fit. I highly reccomend this mod.

I also recommend modding your pad. I did it, and it never slipped again! Well it does but ever so slightly. But hey, even CF's move. And as an added bonus, you can slide your feet on it!

Anyway it looks alot better now. I added a few touches here and there.

Also, I tried my best to follow this guy's softpad mod but I'm not sure if hardwood floor covering even exists. So I just used those clear contact paper book covers to cover the pad. Worked like a charm. Its been modded sine early August.

Im very interested by those softpad mods because I dont have the money to buy metal pads and I just thrashed my two first dance pads however Im not fully convinced by the design.

1- Does the pad lose anys ensibility after having some plastic wrapped around it ??

2- I kinda liked the feel of my old dance pad, would you say that plastic sheets's texture is as good ? Like not too sticky or slippy.

3- And finally, my first ddr experience was on ddr mario mix and my feet got reaally sore after playing for a while on the konami soft pads w/o foam. Did you use foam inserted pads and if not, did you use to feel the pain after playing a long time cause my feet might be tougher not that I have played quite a lot on ddr.

I just duct taped my old one to a wood square the same size as the pad.
It works amazingly compared to how it used to.

But it's still poopy next to my Metal pad, which works perfectly because I perform maintainance on it on a day-to day basis. (I still need to replace the panel-sensors with sheet metal though.

I'd like to take this chance to say my modded softpad is now dead. It responds horribly.

It probably happened for a variety of reasons, but I can only think of two.

1. It was an Ebay pad.

2. I modded it after using it for months unmodded.

I'm gonna get a new softpad, most likely the Red Octane one and mod that right when I get it. I hear it works awesomely.

My softpad's beyond dead.
It cuts me about 30% per game and it's modded.
It holds my low record for Crazy [hard]: 0.00%
That's from before I modded it.
