ch you have obviously never played on 1.5 mix. If you have you would be grateful you have SN.

Anything pre-3rd mix was horrible: 5 songs to choose from at any one time, no vivid, horrible syncing engine, ugly graphics and framerate, and ugly dancers.

Still, I think it is important to compare SN to the previous release rather than the first release. Extreme was on-sync for the most part (even though that will be debated by those that wish the marvelous window was spot-on), had a ton of great licensed tracks, and felt much more polished. Let's hope these are solved with the patch.

Speaking of which...where is it? I thought that patch would've been finished and sent out by now, or atleast we would know what the new song is. Then again, I suppose that Konami is putting a lot of effort into the patch, maybe adding challenge charts, characters, and the like. If more time is what it takes, then take your time Konami.

Timing is just the easiest way for elitist players to complain about a game that they feel uncomfortable acknowledging that they enjoy. It's sufficiently abstract and subjective that if someone doesn't find it a problem, they're automatically not hardcore enough to notice, and therefore their opinion doesn't count.

As much as I wish this were true (not saying it isn't), saying something like that could easily get someone's hopes up, when they're likely to find themselves disappointed later on. I'd hate for someone to find himself disenchanted with the game because he was expecting the patch to be more than it was.

You sir, are made of win.

Angelic Mix is one of the few songs I can honestly still enjoy listening to off of Extreme.

And play, I still love to play it. E7.gif

Does this also imply availability of regular upgrade kits (since I was under the impression those would become available once the software patch was released)?

Although this looks a lot like flamebait, I'm going to respond anyway.

As a player who cares very much about the timing of beat games (and therefore, I guess, Elitist by your definition), I would argue that much of what you said is correct, though the negative spin you put on it is decidedly unfair. First of all, there are two distinct definitions of timing:

Timing as it applies to "visual" players (i.e. where you have to step to get a Marvelous or Fantastic in relation to the target arrows)

and

Timing as it applies to "aural" players (i.e. where you have to step to get a Marvelous or Fantastic in relation to the onset of the musical beat).

Much confusion over discussion of timing can be attributed to the assumption that both people are talking about the same kind of timing, when in fact a visual player may be trying to argue with an aural player.

That being said, I agree that if someone doesn't detect a timing issue in a given situation (and most people think that there is a timing issue) I probably will disregard their opinion (which would then probably be a *wrong* opinion). However, I wouldn't discount their opinion on other facets of dancing games--just their opinion on timing in that specific case. I think that you imply that because one doesn't have an opinion that aligns with mine on the subject of timing, that I would then not entertain other opinions from them on different subjects. I don't think that's true, for me at least.

As for the bit about a "game that they feel uncomfortable acknowledging that they enjoy," I can only speak from personal experience. Songs on ITG like pre-R16 Delirium, Ride The Bass, Bag, Hyper Eurobeat, Burning Heat and others with sync and/or timing issues aren't as enjoyable to me. I enjoy playing songs where I can step right in the center of the beat (as an aural player) or right when the arrows reach the targets (as a visual player). If I can't do that, there is definitely a loss of enjoyment for me, though I admit that the enjoyment isn't completely lost.

You're absolutely right. I sure hope nobody ever discovers that I like DDR; that would be horrible!

Or maybe they get 100 greats per song no matter what game they're playing, and therefore should have their thoughts be taken with a grain of salt.

People obviously enjoy dancing games for many reasons. Some enjoy playing for score, others enjoy playing for fun. For those who like playing for the sheer fun of it, sync has no bearing on the situation at all. However, to someone who actually likes playing for score, they are squat out of luck.

A random 12 year-old girl named susan doesn't care that Brazillian Anthem is almost an 8th note off. The hardcore players are the only ones complaining, because they are better players and can actually notice the horrible syncing.(PS. Much of the syncing IS horrible)

I honestly don't see how any decent player can say that Supernova syncing is consistant.

The Update CD seemed to have made it to Staten Island today. They put a Remix of Fascination on it instead of MAX.(which is good in my book). The timing is as good as Extreme and Ultramix 2(I liked the timing to Ultramix 2, just my personal opinion....) I think people will definately forget Fascination Maxx to play that one for now(then complain that its too easy...). Sorry for wasting a post.
