Anyone done this before? How did it work?
I'd buy a PSP just for this and internet browsing. |

Yeah, the PSP's buttons wouldn't be good for SM at all. If you wanted though, you could always mod it. But I doubt you'd want to do that. |

My question is: It's possible to put stepmania on a PSP, correct? It will function fine? |

Yeah, but unless you played with one hand your right hand would be kind of blocking the screen. If there was ever a right arrow freeze and you had to press the up button while holding the right button down, it'd feel...awkward. You'll see what I'm talking about if you hold a PSP and picture it. |

But nonetheless, you can't just "install Stepmania" to the PSP. There are two people who have ported it and renamed it to various things (I don't remember the names) but neither of them are feature-complete or near full-speed. _________________

Yeah if you hold the PSP like you would a PS2 controller you can use both the D-pad and the face buttons, correct? That's what I do for PS2 DDR on a controller. I'm assuming it would work on a PSP too.
But it sounds like it's not a great idea. _________________

Already done. Its called PSPRevolution . Check on PSPupdates.qj.net
It has also been ported to the iPod. Its Called PodPodRevolution . But you need iPod Linux for it to work. I don't think sound works though. |

PSP Revolution is FANTASTIC... synching issues b/c for some odd reason, the PSP doesn't properly decode the mp3 audio files...
I've converted them all to .ogg and they run pretty much FANTASTICLY... I've also modded my own theme to match Extreme (my fav. mix) and with that, I pretty much have the arcade version wherever I go...
It just needs some nice transition screens and it would be pretty damn close. Even has speed modifiers... So if you're into basic, 'bare bones' DDR, it's phenomenal... but if you're into all types of mods and such, you'll probably get bored quickly.
Nothing comes close to it's portability, IMO. |
