OK. Here's the skinny. I have a copy of DDR Ultramix 3 for the X-Box and a Red Octane Ignition 3.0 Dance Pad, and I'm trying to figure out from where this problem stems.

The short story: When I press right or left and down at the same time, down will not register. If I hold them both together and lift my foot off the right or left pad, the down will be recognized as a fresh push as soon as I lift my foot. If I put my foot back on the left or right, it stops registering down.

This started on my cheapo Gamestop pad. We had two Gamestop pads, so when this started, I switched to that pad. It worked for a while, and then started doing the same thing. So I got my Ignition 3.0. It worked for a while and now it's doing the same thing. The funny thing is it works flawlessly on the PS2 with my DDR Extreme and Max games.

So I KNOW I didn't break all these pads in the exact same way. They always work for a while, but after a few minutes, the same thing starts happening, no matter which pad no matter which port it's plugged into.

Ideas?

Maybe your Xbox controller port is having problems if you only had these issues with Xbox DDR games?

No, JPop is correct.

Yeah, Jpop is right. It's an Ignition 3.0, that's your problem. Your just lucky it worked at all, mine was broken out of the box. Anyway, if you want a good foam pad get one of those BNS things or whatever they're called.

I've had this EXACT same problem with my other soft-foam mat. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea why this is happening, what I'm guessing is the down sensor is somehow torn and shorting out with the other buttons.

This is really odd though, because I'm having the exact same problem with another non-RO mat..

gamestop pads suck too. i got one and it broke after 2 days. it out-lived my ignition 3.0, but it still sucked.

There are 2 soft pads that were sure work. The BNS DX Fusion or Sparkle and the konami soft pad. 2 great pads for the price. The BNS DX F/S will run you around $70 after shipping(cheaper than ignition 3.0) and although you have to buy the konami pad in a bundle, it runs about $50-60 for the bundle with game. The konami soft pad is only xbox or PS2(depending what system you buy the game for) and the BNS DX F/S works on PS2, Xbox, and PC.

Hope that helped!

That's exactly the deal with me. It doesn't seem to matter what pad I use (I've tried a few) the same problem keeps occuring. Ignition-Bashing aside, and knowing that I've tried ALL my X-Box ports, is there anyone who knows what could be causing the problem?

my i ask what pad brands you tried on your xbox? if it was a wireless or some multiplatform best buy pad, chances are it just sucks like the RO ignition and the gamestop pad.

the only good non-metals i've ever used are the BNS sparkle DX(best non-metal ever btw), konami soft pad, and RO official ITG pad. Everything besides the konami and ITG pads that you could find at a store blows a big one. I know from experience. I've returned at least 5 pads to best buy because they sucked so bad laugh.gif !

I've tried Redoctane's Ignition and I've tried a few Gamestop pads. I know they're not top of the line, it just seems odd that every one would break in the exact same way.

We went through FOUR RedOctanes at BestBuy before we gave-up on that product and went with the BNS pad. Given my experience, I don't find it odd at all.
