I'm a new DDR player and I have been looking into purchasing a decent metal pad that will last. I am a heavy player (240 lb/109 kg) so a flimsy metal pad probably won't last long for me (even though I pretty much suck and lucky to complete a 5-foot).
I've narrowed down my choices to the Mymybox Nexen and the tried and true Cobalt Flux.
Obviously the Cobalt Flux has been used, tested, and found near-indestructable for years. However, the Nexen has just been recently released and I have been unable to find any thoughts on this pad besides "Get a Cobalt" or "Mymypad has made some crap" in these forums and others.
I also do not play in an arcade and actually prefer to play in socks over shoes, which I have read can be a problem with the Cobalt Flux.
Since I'm a cheap bastard , I'm looking to spend as little as possible on a pad that will last at least a few years, and the Nexen is $200 vs Cobalt's $300.
The stats between these two pads are also almost identical, with the exception of the Flux having the extra sensors for Pump it Up and the like (which doesn't really concern me). Mymybox has even been so bold to say "If you could not decide whether buy this nexen or cobaltflux pad, Try this metal pad. you will not regret it. Save $100 and buy other DDR Games Happy shopping". The truth to this statement is obviously questionable and both pads also carry the same 6-month warrenty.
I'm not really looking for a Nexen vs Cobalt argument, but would just like any thoughts on the new Nexen pad and if any one has used one yet.
Thank you. |

I already own a Cobalt Flux and a RedOctane Afterburner (CF is better IMO) and on Tuesday I'm receiving a MyMyBox Nexen and MyMyBox Blueshark. On Tuesday I'll take a bunch of pictures and let you know what I think about tne Nexen. |

Hehe, I tried playing doubles with the CF and ROAB and it didn't work out too well to say the least. I was able to pass a few 7 footers but otherwise I pretty much failed everything because I kept getting lost |

i'm excited to hear about the nexen because I think it's gonna be my first metal pad. It looks like they took a cobalt flux, made it arcade accurate, and dropped the price by $100. _________________

The blueshark and nexen together weigh 70 pounds, I'm not sure how much they weight separately though. |

Nice! Thank you so much for your replies. I decided to try out the Nexen and just ordered it today. I hope it turns out to be as nice as it seems and I'll be sure to keep you guys posted also. |

The Nexen works great in socks, the screws are flat and rest perfectly, unlike the CF which has screws that stick up and hurt your feet if you're barefoot
My Nexen just arrived, you should be happy with your purchase. The arrows register great and it's very easy to move around on |

I also like to read your full reviews on not only for nexen, but also CF, RO afterburner, blueshark metal pad?
if you can do comparison chart for these four different metal pads, it will be very helpful not only for me , but also other people too.
Thanks |

MMB has the Blueshark, making the Nexen a mere sub-par model _________________

I think the CF is a little better than the Nexen, but if you have money for a CF just buy a BlueShark |

BlueShark metal pad must be really really good since everyone seems to be happy with it. The CF is $299.99 and Nexen is $199.95. anyone who has both nexen and CF? give us a description about both CF and NEXEN. |
