Well I only started playing like 3 months ago cause my girlfriend played. I mainly got into it because she was into. She had been playing for about a year or so when she met me and she was playing the easier 9's and thats about it. We're really competitive with each other and I told her I'd end up being better than her. She kept saying no I wouldn't this and that. 3 months later and I can beat all of the 9's and max 300, sakura, Paranoia Survivor, and Bag and she's still having trouble because I think she plateaued. But we definitely are very big rivals. |

My wife is my rival in that after 3 months she was AAing Standard songs and doing select heavies (very few of them). Then she got pregnant and was told by her doctor to cease all DDR. Although she didn't completely refrain from it, she went from 1.5-2hrs a day with me (versus) to once a week for a few songs. And obviously while recovering from the c-section she didn't play for weeks while I played fairly heavily throughout.
You must understand that I had 0 rhythm and couldn't keep a beat worth my life but with a lot of CCRing and DDRing I can do some songs that are harder than those she can (a few 8's and a couple 7's) but she can easily pass Cartoon Heroes Std and Butterfly Upswing Mix Std with solid A's if not the occasional AA while I struggle at all the step step jump step jump step jump.
I also can't gallop and although I generally know how to crossover she makes it look soooo easy.
I also have to clean the sweat from my eyes after 1.5 hours. _________________

I do have some rivals like this one kid who'd play at my arcade...He used to be able to woop me but then I got a whole lot better than him. He doesn't show up anymore and I'm kind of sad about that.
Also my friend who plays on standard is a rival. He can do a few songs on heavy but when I try to do something like Waka Laka on heavy he can't adjust to all the jumps.
Oh and my biggest rival(even though I've only played him once) is the "circuit city guy". He goes to the arcade and he AA's most of the songs he plays on Heavy. I can AA like 10 of the songs on the machine and A all the others except for Max 300 (I get a B on that) and Maxx Unlimited ( I go from Cing to Failing it). |

But, I got her bk. So, it is hard when u have rivals to beat them. I know it is!! But now, me and her aren't rivals anymore. I hope I don't get anymore!! |

There's this kid in my school named Charles. He isn't exactly a rival, but he is so cocky. I've never versed him, but he also says stuff like "You can't DDR because you're not asian AND you're a girl." I really wanna kick his buttocks. He's a rival of mine, but I guess he doesn't know. |

Actually, I do have a rival and although I've never seen or met him, I feel there's this epic battle waging between me and him (her?). I wish I knew his name, I only know him by his tag: JBOW, I HATE you JBOW, you always get the high scores. I hope the swiftest of deaths befalls you. If you know who he is, or have a "JBOW" on your machine too, please tell me |

I used to have rivals... but then I whupped their @$$es at a tournament (You may be able to AA Drop Out, but you can't make it through Secret Rendezvous to save your life!!! ) and they started to respect me. Then they all left town. And I have no one to compete with. Which is sad, 'cause I'm not that great. I can only make it through SAKURA on heavy mode half of the time, for god's sake! _________________

Gah, this little asian girl at the arcade.
She was half my height, and she was playing on Heavy mode.
She was so cocky when she was playing though. When I selected Standard mode at the main page, she pointed her finger at me and laughed. I want to face her so badly, but I never see her at the arcade now that I can actual play on Heavy mode. >.>
She was probably no mode than 7.
Maybe even younger. |

My friend Calvin got me into it. I took off learning and in a few months, I was well over his level. Then, about a year ago, I just stopped caring. I think I peaked then. _________________

Yes, I do have a DDR rival... my girlfreind... Kinda funny, though. I didn't know she played DDR, and she didn't know I did either. We were out at the movies, and next to it lies an arcade. After Pirates *good movie... was opening night. argh. * we decided to go check out the arcade. Lo and behold, the DDR Extreme machine! We watched an asian girl play for a while... she was good, played on heavy mostly. My girlfreind asks the girl if she wanted to do doubles... and at that moment I realized I loved her. (*Just being corny, but it really did shock me.*) What was more amazing, is that the WHITE girl beat the ASIAN girl... for the first time in arcade history.
Next, it was my turn... albeit, I suck and pale in comparison to her.. I barely manage 'A's on the songs I do enjoy @ Standard, and generally get D's C's and FAILING grades everytime I play challenge or heavy. She absolutely raped me. I lasted for one song(Moonlight Shadow.. got an A, but thats because its my fav. song.)... then let the asian girl take my place, as there was no way in hell I was going to do Love<3Shine @ Heavy. I hate it at Standard. ;(
Anyway... so yeah. I have a rival. Since then, she has ceased to play much, but we are supposed to go out to the arcade this weekend. I.. I play alot. I don't like my softpad though.. can't rely on it. Adding insult to injury, I purchased a Cobalt Flux pad, and never could use it myself. I have an xbox.. but no ps2. DDR is the only reason I own a console, too.. _________________

I'm not good enough to have a rival online, and there's not enough people playing at my level around here to have one IRL. Although I did have a really close match against this skater kid a few months ago that I won by a little. (Then again, it had been my first time playing in literally months, and I had pad misses up the butthole. The left arrow barely registered if you stomped on it.) _________________

[ego]My true rival is myself.[/ego]
But I actually have a real rival, and that's my younger 8-year-old brother. Yes, he plays DDR. Surprisingly he is able to beat most of the 8-footers with an A... but he tends to exhibit some of the more beginner tactics, e.g. double-stepping rather than crossovers, or holding onto the wall. In some cases he even wins against me. However, I have the advantage over him in my ability to beat Burning Heat, Tsugaru, Rhythm & Police, and Irresistiblement on Heavy.
Occasionally I'll even beat him on some of the easier songs with an AA, like Love Is Orange, Polovetsian Dances and Chorus, Miracle Moon, and Injection of Love (Hina Mix).
He only wins by fluking out. _________________

If you cannot beat PSMO Double 8x Shuffle Dark Reverse, you do not deserve to play DDR. |

my friend got a DDR pad months ago, actually his sister did, but they share all their games. they were both better than me but thats because they played longer. he was alright and his sister was good. when i started playing at his house i got as good as my friend. then after playing sakura alot and increasing my scences, i got about twice as good as him and now i have to face his sister. because since i got good i havent faced her yet. so now she's my rival since i'm alot better than her brother. so all you gotta do is practice alot, it doesn't really have too much to do with how long you play. _________________

I knew this guy named Casey ever since I started playing. Slowly but surely, I started to catch up to his level.
Our rivalry had gone all over the place, but our main battleground was PARANOiA Brothers on MAX2. Any time one of us would beat the other person, the other would spend ridiculous amounts of time just trying to beat the new top score. Our rivalry finally ended when Hurricane Katrina destroyed all the machines in our area.
The final standings on PARANOiA Brothers were as follows:
ZUKN: 98.9%
CJW.: 98.7% _________________
