This is a question that's pondering me for awhile, currently I'm trying to get into playing Guitar Hero and Guitar Freaks. But the thing is, with the GH controller, can GF (game) even recognize the controller at all? I don't want to shell out some cash to get the GF controller |

I don't know how well it works with the previous installments (up to GFV/DMV) but I hear Masterpiece Silver has a button config mode, so if you want to use the GH axe you can.

I seem to recall reading on /. that the GH controller operates in a peculiar manner, pulsing some of the button inputs or somesuch. That leads me to believe that even with a button remap, you're SOL on anything other than Guitar Hero. _________________

I believe another problem is that there aren't any controller settings on Guitar Freaks which allow you to strum both up and down on the GH controller. That makes playing pretty much impossible =/ _________________

I thought that there was some weird button mapping (Like buttons 1, 2, and 5 work as the GF keys) and you could only strum down. I mean its unplayable, but maybe if you hacked your controller if would work correctly. _________________

Damn, i'll figure out a way. or if konami can even realize that they should work a way to allow the GH controller to be used (those 3 buttons).Oh well, only time will tell |

GuitarFreaks is Japan-only, and Guitar Hero hasn't been released in Japan (that I know of). They have no reason to make it compatible, especially since they were the first ones on the block, no matter what Adam Sessler says. _________________

They'll probably do something like that for Guitar Revolution. _________________

Err, wouldn't it be against Konami's interests to make their game compatible with the GH controller? Its bad enough that a huge chunk of you pirate these games without being able to get away with not even laying down for the controller too! _________________

I'm sure people will just say "you can map it to another button!", but what about the wailing bonus? _________________

mapping it to other buttons... interesting, but hopefully whenever i have spare time, i should really research the controller and figure out the button mappings. wailing bonus, i would have thought it would function the same as when activating star power. but when turning on star power, it's like flinging the GH controller way high to activate. whereas GF controller, swinging it up lightly will do.
But still, I'll do some research when i have the time, hopefully it should look good for my engineering ability |

Anything is possible. You can make a GH controller work for GF. |

That doesn't answer the question. |
