So I'm playing DDR the other day, and I decide that I want to play a really easy set and see if I can AAA or low SDG some stuff. I start my second song, and this guy who I don't know stands in front of me, and slightly(only very slightly) to my side, and starts singing it in a horribly false and messed up voice....Just as the arrows start to scroll up. So as a result I ended up getting a good on the first step.
Ok, so I'm not that good, and probably wouldn't have managed the AAA anyway, but it's still really annoying. Anyway, I thanked him for screwing my chances at a AAA and attempted to great attack the rest of the song.
I'm not sure if he felt like an idiot or just decided that his work was done, but I didn't have any more problems with him the rest of the evening. _________________

No, no you didn't. Please stop, you've already made yourself look like a moron.
I understand that some of you might have "accidentally" smacked someone while playing or stomped on someone's foot/hand. Also, I can completely understand yelling at someone and getting them thrown out. But I seriously doubt any of you have beaten the crap out of a heckler. And if you did, I really don't understand why the arcade management didn't throw you out as well.
This is about what people do while playing DDR that pisses you off. If you want to go tell your "I kicked someone in the face" stories, go tell it in the Arcade Experiences thread. |
Leave him alone, you noob. That really did happen. I'm his sister. And even if it didn't, it's none of your business if it did or not. I think this forum should have a report button so people could report usless stuff like that.
Anyway, what annoys me about DDR is when I'm waiting for the person to be done on the machine and they see someone is watching them and start trying to freestyle on heavy. The person ended up failing when he turned around in the middle of a left-right combo and could no longer see the screen. I wanted to laugh in his face, but I was too nice. XD |
amazing how some people can't read
zajitarrius' post isn't even directed at your brother. if you actually bothered to read, he says "I understand that some of you might have "accidentally" smacked someone while playing or stomped on someone's foot/hand." i believe that clearly says he's not complaining about your situation, "But I seriously doubt any of you have beaten the crap out of a heckler. And if you did, I really don't understand why the arcade management didn't throw you out as well."

First off, never EVER call someone a noob who's been a member of a forum longer than you. You've been here two days. I've been here for over three years. Time on a forum = experience and wisdom. You don't know how things work here. Have you read the FAQ at all? If you haven't, you might want to accquaint yourself with it.
Secondly, I did nothing but post my opinion on the fact that a lot of users continually post things about kicking or punching people while playing DDR. 90% of them haven't done it. People read that and go "Oh wow...you're a real asshole." If you notice, most of the forum regulars do not post in this thread. For good reason. It's annoying and full of immature statements.
Third of all, I made a generalized statement not pertaining to anyone. Jesus Christ, don't get all defensive because I spoke my mind on something. I just happened to post after your brother. If you're that worried about it, the posts I saw that brought up this rant were on pages 106 and 107.

You will not last here on DDRFreak. Anyone who acts this way never lasts on the forums. You'll end up getting made fun of because you've come on here thinking you're hot shit and you're really really not. You're just an immature kid thinking he has to prove something on the internet, of all places.
I do not "act like I run this place". I just happen to know what the rules are and I've been here quite a long time. Sarcasm isn't a crime. I don't see how making one side comment about the arcade experiences thread makes me "act like I run the place". Please.

I don't understand how you think I ever tried to moderate this forum. I posted my opinion on the subject and how that the "I beat the crap out of someone" stories basically belong in the "Arcade Experiences" thread. Which they do. Any official moderator/forum regular will tell you that. And yes, I will probably get in trouble for somewhat derailing this thread, but I'm willing to accept warning points for that, if it's so deemed necessary. Although I feel I was completely in the right to say that I think it's ridiculous to come across nearly every story about DDR hecklers ending in "ZOMG SO I TOTALLY BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THEM".
Intelligent, mature people would not resort to that kind of retarded level of action. If someone's bothering you while playing a game - GET AN ATTENDANT/EMPLOYEE. For God's sake, it's not that hard.
I work in an arcade and I know all about these situations. If I had seen some kid heckling a DDR player or any other customer, I would have thrown them out. But we're only human and we can't watch everything that's going on. If I came up and some DDR player bashed the bejesus out of some kid for messing with their game - I would have the DDR player banned from the arcade for fighting and then escorted off the property. You are just sinking to their level when you promote physical violence that way. Actually, you're sinking below their level.
It's a damn GAME guys. A GAME. Games are not that serious business. So what if you fail an Oni Course. If you're that obsessed with a game that you go psycho berserk when something happens while you're playing, find yourself some professional help.
I mean seriously, rationally think about this for a second. Switch the roles.
Say everytime you made fun of anyone for doing ANYTHING, they turned around and punched you straight in the face. Not cool, is it? Sure, they're being dumb and stupid - but acting like a moron doesn't give you the right to beat them up. That makes you worse than they are. That makes you a coward and a jerk, and it shames the name of the DDR community as a whole. _________________

No. Bad dog.
ColorOfSakura just pwned.
back on topic, i don't like it when mothers make there child "play" the game. siccing you kid onto a respectable machine, making them stomp on it, and crying when they fail, is not becoming of a human being. _________________

"Member Moderate". It's a term used to describe members who try to act like moderaters when they're not. DDRFreak doesn't use the term though.
There's a fine line between acting like a moderator and just using common sense, however. A member who posts something for clarification's sake (i.e. "Guys, this actually belongs in another thread") is not trying to moderate a forum, just offering advice so that the users don't get in trouble.

Please go back and re-read my original post and tell me exactly where I ordered people around. I said "If you want to, go tell them in the arcade experiences thread". I'm not enforcing anything, I'm pointing out that it is a rule. The thread title states "Share ALL Arcade Experiences Here". _________________

Yeah sorry Spyro_Pika but I am pretty sure that DDRFreak forums are a little more strict than The Spyro Forums. I hope you can learn to not call people who have been around for many years noobs and not start any flaming. If not I probably won't see you again for a long time.
And I agree with most of what you say ColorOfSakura, but sometimes the stories aren't made up. I know I had someone try to start a fight with me at the arcade once but I just ignored them. Not everything has to end in violence. |

You people get really worked up about really little things. If most of the members are that, I don't think I'll be staying here much longer. You guys took that one post Spyro_Pika made way too far. And it's not a big deal if someone calls you a noob. She just used the wrong word. It's no reason to start a flame war over it. |

you missed the important part of that sentence. |
Is that one of those code sentences or is it that he said you have a choice of telling the story, but do it in the other thread?
EDIT: nevermind didnt read spyro_pika's post |

IF YOU WANT TO TELL THE STORIES post them in the arcade experiece thread. He is still telling him what to do.
If you had maybe, say, given a link to the thread and said something like, "Please go here to tell those kind of stories" instead of ordering them to go there, that would have made more sense. |
I don't see how putting a link there and saying pretty much the exact same thing suddenly means I'm not telling people what to do.
That logic really makes no sense. Either way I would be making a suggestion of where to post the information. It was not moderating anything. It was pointing out the rules out of concern. I didn't want people to start getting warning points (or being hounded by the mods) for not knowing where to post something. _________________
