Maybe he's not playing ITG at all, but the theme for it for StepMania. The cutoffs are entirely arbitrary at first if you just slap the theme on and don't do any correction via the .ini files.

Either what Emptyeye said is true, or you just don't know what the correct cut-offs are E13.gif

Actually, I've seen this happen for an S and lower rating, when the % was close enough; Ex: 89.97 S-

As for the * rating...

um, the lower limit for an S- is 89%, so that's perfectly fine.

ITG Home version (not hacked or anything) gave me a * when I got a 95.98 on Let My Love Go Blind Hard.

I've gotten numerous 95.98's on ITG Home and they've always been S+'s.

NOTE: I'm looking at my game now, and the 95.98 was on expert, not hard.

I'm not kidding though, I even had it on tape. But what's also interesting is how it says I have 20 *s on Expert, and I'm only counting 19 exlcuding the 95.98.

I guess you guys dont remember or something, but on ITG1, if you hit a Mine and wouldve starred it if you didnt, it says *. Apparently, same goes with S, and probably all gradings. Loogaroo made a thread about it a long time ago with a machine screenshot of like a 95.80 and it saying he starred it.

That's probably it, but like I said, I have no methods of getting it on here.

Was that just for ITG AC or CS too?

You could always pause the tape at where your score was and take a picture of the screen.
