|
|
Hello I been playing ITG and pump for some time and just started getting into doubles on ITG and wow it's pretty freaking hard compared to pump! Many of the 10's rank up there with the 15 and 16's in pump but many people claim that pump is the harder game in doubles. From what i have played i would argue that pump is easier since the back arrow on in ITG is very awkard and some of the stepcharts are murder, i believe 90% of pumps nightmares are really easy and get rather boring after awhile. Thats when i went over to try ITG doubles and got blown away when i saw some of the 11's for doubles. Anway how do you guys think ITG ranks up with PIU in doubles? (Now i know i havn't attempted dignity or liadz yet I'm not that good my highest i can pass is 18's) Also what in your opinion is the hardest doubles chart for both ITG and PIU? Thanks guys! |

The hardest ITG doubles chart is Vertex2. That being said, you should try Energizer and ! as well for a challenge. Heck, try the 12's to, they're not easy at all. The 12's are VerTex, Pandemonium, Monolith, and Determinator.........but if all you wanted was the hardest single chart, look no further than Vertex2.
I don't know the hardest on PIU, but from the videos I've seen, I wonder if PIU doubles and ITG doubles are hard to compare difficulty seeing that one is 5-panel and the other 4-panel. This brings very much different footwork.
I can't tell you which is harder, sorry. _________________

I actually call Paranoia Survivor Max psmo. Paranoia Survivor Max takes less time to type than it does to say. And psm sounds stupid.
Ask anyone ive played ddr with, I call Paranoia Survivor Max on heavy psm heavy. _________________

I'm going to have to go with ITG doubles..
As hard as pump is the timing is too loose to make it as difficult as ITG and the grading system and the fact that most machines have stage break off makes it easier to pass than ITG (I have never played Pump doubles but went from 4's on Normal to 13's in my first hour and a half of singles pump) The only thing preventing me from going farther was the fact that I couldn't read it because I had little experience with pump so far. ITG doubles look harder to me than most pump doubles charts. _________________

Apparently, PSMO Heavy.
And that's not the first time I've seen someone do something similar. _________________

Nightmare definitely has the hardest stepcharts, but ITG has a more awkward arrow layout, far tighter timing, and stage break always on, so many Pump players have trouble with ITG double when they first try it. I think we'll be seeing the amount skilled ITG double players increasing now that more and more arcades are putting their machines on double premium. People may also begin to get a more realistic idea of the quality and challenge of ITG's double charts, and stop bashing them bececause they're more than most players can handle. I just don't understand why it's said ITG double is "retarded" while Pump players post miss counts as their accomplishments. It's very interesting how differently stepcharts are received in the two communities. Pump players won't say somethings a bad charts unless it REALLY BLOWS HARD (Shake It Up CZ lol). Wait... this isn't what the topic is about.
Anyway, MJ has said many times that he draws inspiration for Pump's charts (Habanera 1, VerTex^2, Disconnected Disco anyone?), and has made it his goal to gradually expand the difficulty of ITG double until it's on par with Pump.

Given how I've seen CZ transfer to ITG singles, I imagine folks really good at NM would be able to pass, probably FC everything on ITG doubles first or second try, just with really awful FA. _________________

I got 9 misses on Blazing my first time ever playing Pump, and passed almost everything on Crazy with stage break on within a week, so I know skill transfers on singles, but I'm not so sure about double. Back when I tried Nightmare I struggled, but that was before I was an ITG double player, so my own experiences can't tell me anything there.
I've just heard a lot of Pump players complaining about ITG's 11s, so it's my guess that the skill transfer isn't as fluid. Or at least not at first. |

Well, from ITG -> PIU (assuming you are a reasonably good player), the hardest thing to learn is reading patterns and possibly building some more movement stamina (since you will end up having to farther on PIU if you typically bracket rape ITG). If you've only played PIU, going to ITG will mean you have like no timing at all, but probably enough stamina to do almost anything you want. I would rate ITG 11s around the PIU 16 level (based on my expected stamina exertion on average for both difficulties), so people who are about that level or better would probably be surprised that in ITG there's actually a limited amount of time to hit an arrow and get a Fantastic. _________________

This is a serious question, seeing that I have a hell of a hard time making reasonable conversions in difficulty from ITG to PIU or vice versa.
If Vertex2 doubles was a PIU song, what would it be rated? An 18? 19?
How 'bout the 12's? _________________
