Lol.
But what if there's someone in the world that doesn't post scores anywhere, and doesn't enter tournaments, but has world records on every song in the game. I don't see how the formula could take them into effect.
And for players such as myself that don't enter tournaments fairly often, but perform fairly well in tournament situations when I do enter them.
I don't see how a formula could give a "correct" answer to an otherwise subjective question. | Gotta keep that low profile, Jason. Otherwise you couldn't get all the fanboys off your e-peen. And you don't know where they've been. _________________

Right, it can't. The reasoning is that such a player would be worse in a tournament setting then Mike because his inexperience would hurt him. I accept this as a limit to the formula, and in the essay I only talk about the best known player in the world. Good point.

It's not tournament performance which is used in the formula's. It's a statistic called range factor. Pretty much the only thing I use tournament performance for is to see how close to your best you get in a tournament setting.

Did Sabremetrics give a correct answer to the question: Who is the best baseball player (in the MLB)? Was that a subjective question beforehand? _________________

i was recently at a ddr tourny Kevin was in. every round he'd pick lom or psmo and win, but on a couple occasions, his opponent would beat him or almost so on a random 7 or 8. |
Not to sound dumb... but dont you basically need to AAA every single 7and 8 difficulty song almost consistently to win a "real" ddr tournament now? Doesn't suprise me that some rounds were close on 7s and 8's |

thats kind of odd.. considering it was a tournament.. you know you can't pick the same set of songs... obviously he won that tourney... not from just picking 10footers... I did hear however he looked out with TLOM at the end.... _________________

I honestly can't answer that question because I don't follow baseball or Sabremetrics, but I'm guessing the answer you're looking for is "yes".
That point aside, it's much easier to gauge who the best baseball player is because MLB is a national organization, therefore statistical data is available for every player in the league. However, with ITG, since there's no professional organization, the tournament records and scores for every individual ITG player aren't readily available as they are with baseball.
From what I read about what you posted about Sabremetrics, it seem like it can give an answer within a relatively high confidence interval of who the best ITG player is, but it could never be 100% accurate unless comprehensive data was composed of every ITG player worldwide. _________________

You make a fair point and I accept this; I am happy to say that I can calculate only the best known player. _________________

I have always thought that it is possible that the best person in the world doesn't post scores, movies, or anything and thus slips under the radar. For all you know, 94.55 ISN'T the world record on Vertex2, that is just the probable and verified record. Joe McNobody might have broken 95 without almost anyone knowing.
I understand the improbability of this, but I also recognize the slight possibility. In other things, such as music, this is more common place. I know multiple kids who can probably solo better than anyone in Iron Maiden while drunk, and no, that is not an exaggeration. _________________

Did you know I'm the best player in TX,
Got a AAA on psmo in light mode
It took me 50 trys... One day I went to the arcade and woot!
All perfects baby!! First one in the world to AAA psmo in light mode.
It takes some major skill and I'm going to video tape it next time and put it on youtube to show my greatness. _________________
