I think it will be Flow (Jammin' Ragga Mix), but either way, I hope the new song is really good and had 5 stepcharts catering to everyone's DDR needs and desires, and although that seems hard, I think it's possible. _________________

Good point. I'm not really much of a IIDX player though, so I couldn't tell you what's on there and what isn't. lol _________________

I wouldn't even go as far to say "better late then never".
They really aren't late because very few arcades have supernova, and the machines only started popping up what a month ago or so (the final releases not those beta's)
Im excited to see them try harder to make this mix succeed, instead of letting it go as is which would probably lose alot of their fanbase.
Konami's doing just enough to keep some of us hooked for now, btw theres something called ITGfreak.com if you want to bash DDR go there... you'd feel right at home.
I still enjoy DDR and i'm sure I'll enjoy supernova too, (Hyper Eurobeat is now playable, and I love that song!!) _________________

Wolfman Jake wrote: | The best part is how Spectere admits that Roxor did the exact same thing with ITG2 (and how many revisions did it take them to get it RIGHT again?) as Konami has with SuperNOVA, i.e. releasing a build with synching issues and then quickly releasing a fix (DDR SN has NOT been out that long, and the distribution is still quite small), but somehow it shows that Roxor is to be praised and Konami is to be reviled. Sheer brilliance. Spectere should be a defense attorney. |
RoXoR thought ahead and gave PLAYERS the ability to fix problems without having to wait for a lazy arcade tech to get motivated. Players that were concerned (in this case, that group would be everyone that has played SN) could download a small file on their flash drive and submit it to the machine. Any problems were reported and a fix was soon released. In this case, any future problems might have to be fixed the same way, with Konami sending out a disc that gets inserted and uploaded by the owner. RoXoR had the sense to realize their product wouldn't be perfect and safeguarded, Konami did not do as thorough of a job.
Oh and they STILL didn't do the memory card slots, the only saving grace of a poor stepchart. Fun or not, a crap chart means the song won't get played by those that want to stay awake on the machine. The machine closest to us makes its money from regulars, not passer-bys. The regulars want to have fun but normally they play the 9s and 10s on ITG, not crap like the 6s (Not Worth the Paper, Normal). |

SuperNOVA makes me want to play more Extreme than anything else. How many years in the making? And it still sucks? Yes. _________________

It's just totally ridiculous that any song should be off in a game like this, and is made even worse by the fact that not only are several songs off-sync, but some songs will be on-sync once and horribly off-sync the next.
I'm just going to stick with ITG, kthx. At least Roxor knows how to sync songs and make charts difficult without throwing in a boatload of BPM changes and stops, not to mention how to sync songs well (yeah, I know they had a few off-sync charts in the first releases...while that most definitely shouldn't have happened in the first place, at least they were quick to correct it). |
roxor's on their 11th revision of ITG2 (fixing things like song timing multiple times, very major software bugs like erroneous scoring, a half assed attempt at preventing hacking, etc), if THAT says anything. |

double posting.
the thing you quoted is true to some extent, and false to another.
i'd like to think i'm pretty good at dancing games, if my scores don't speak for themselves.
anyway, on supernova, there's an issue where the sound lags sometimes, and for no reason , the chart SUDDENLY shifts gap, and it's early. this makes for some (many) runs where a song is synched at a certain place, but sometimes it'll lag once, or if you're unlucky, more than once, and before you know it, a song that is usually synched in some way will be way the hell early.
in short: yes, the "gap" is the same every time the song is played. however, hardware issues can shift the gap mid-song every now and then. |

Uhm, we have no clue how long DDRSN has been in dvelopment. It could have taken a mere 3 months before they unveiled it at Gamer's Day. Also, realize hat Extreme was the last mix on old hardware. Konami was used to it, they had fixed all the previous kinks through the upgrades. This is new hardware, thus by the time we get to the 4th or 5th upgrade (if we get that high) for DDRSN, then we won't have problems as bad as this. |

oh yeah also just wanted to back this up.
Does anybody remember synching on ITG1? If you said yes, you most likely would have to think that SN is doing a better job, that was ATROCIOUS. ITG2 upgrades, which only differ in global gap from dedicabs by a little bit (and for all intents and purposes, is the same for this discussion) is essentially software built on hardware that has "been in development" for guess what? NEARLY THREE YEARS. |

Hmm, this sounds good. Thank god they finally noticed the problem. Sounds like it will be fixed in case my arcade ever gets SN. _________________

I sure hope you actually paid attention to what I posted if music game skills are what determines the worthiness of my opinions.
I hope you caught the part where I said that roxor was
a) working with the same hardware for 3 years
and b) hasn't gotten ITG2 right... in fact, have down right ignored issues through an 11th revision
while ddr is on new hardware, and they are addressing issues in a quick manner, though the end result is yet to be seen. |

In the end, I'm just glad to see them making the effort for once. And yeah, that's a really good point that you made Godai.

I disagree Joey. I don't play IIDX and I have a pretty clear sense of timing on things. You should know that. lol _________________

I wasn't actually speaking about you Godai. I was talking about the kid that got A's and thought he was the end all be all of sync issue resolvment.
However, Roxor *hasn't* been working with the same hardware for the past 3 years. They got the dedicabs from Andamiro for ITG2, and still had the upgrade kits for the DDR machines. Subtile, sure, but still different.
And CT, the part about IIDX players being the only ones with timing was a joke. Note the smiley.
In the end, if it's off-sync enough for it to be an issue for Konami to fix, then it's off-sync period. You can't argue that.
As a side note, are they going to fix the Heavy Doubles 1 footers? _________________

Simply inserting a flash drive with the update file in the machine does not automatically install the patch. The installation must be done from the game's service menu, which can only be accessed by the operator.
And yes, I AM a lazy arcade operator
Back on topic, while I agree that these timing problems should have been detected and corrected during the development process, I'm glad that Konami is taking the necessary steps to correct those errors. _________________

Yeah, you'd better have been joking. haha
I'd really like to see SN turn out to be a decent game in the end. I played one game in Paris and I did notice the timing issues myself, regardless of whether my ankle we sprained or not. lol _________________
