that first pad you posted i recently saw at best buy....it probably isnt any good. THat second pad is ok, except it suffers TERRIBLY from laggy responce time(even tho it is corded), however, i adjusted it on itg so it wouldnt. But then i realized that i cant do that on DDR so i returned it.

99% of store bought pads suck, unless there official konami soft pads. The gamestop deluxe pads(not the normal soft pads) are also great but break after about 4 months for some reason...could be because i lugged it around almost everywhere.

I know absolutely nothing about either one of those pads, but I will say that the first one looks rather shoddy to me. As in it will probably take less than a few songs to rip the covering on it.

What? Yeah you can. Go to Options>Sound Options and it has -/+0, which you can change to -1, +1, -2, +2, etc.

I don't know about the first one, but I definitely wouldn't buy the second one. A Best Buy near me has those pads hooked up to their DDR demo station, and IMHO they feel terrible. The top is a very slippery nylon material. When I did harder songs, I was afraid I was going to end up sprawled out on Best Buy's floor with the pad six feet away. I dunno what the bottom's made out of, but it slid quite a bit on Best Buy's carpet so it doesn't really matter. I also found the foam inside to be quite mushy. My feet sank into it quite noticeably sometimes. To top it all off, they are indeed pretty laggy, as J-POP_FOR_LIFE mentioned.

On a side note, I wouldn't worry about the second ones. I think Best Buy is phasing those out as they aren't even listed on Best Buy's site anymore. I'm guessing that the first pads you posted are going to replace it.

I went to Fry's today and saw they had DDR set up. I saw lots of ugly pads around the game, some soft, some hard foam, and a metal pad which had bad craftsmanship. From this I do agree that store bought pads aren't built to last. If you've been reading around these forums you'll see a lot of discussions about companies like RedOctane, BuynShop, and Cobalt Flux, which make quality pads (in my opinion of course).

ANYWAY, Fry's had a hard foam pad set up. As soon as I was on the pad it started ghosting. So if your local electronics store has DDR set up, go ahead and try it first.

My friend bought that pad recently with a 2 year warrentee. Its not as responsive (When I used it, I had to stomp a bit, but I guess I was brekaing it in), as now he says you can just step fine.

I had trouble telling where the heck I was on the pad though; probably convince him to put pieces of plywood under the swares...

My girlfriend has the second pad and its really terrible. The foam is so incredibly cheap feeling. It's a mediocre pad though, I guess its a plus that it hooks up to a bunch of things.

http://ddrgame.com/pssuhidefopa.html This is the only foam pad besides an Ignition that i've enjoyed dancing on. (I don't really like the feel of the Ignitions though, its a foam pad that isn't soft frown.gif )

I had the pad at the bottom at one point. The foam sucked so put plywood in its place. This took care of the lagging, but it still had a problem with ghosting.
