Bump...

Who here recommends the sheet metal mod, for long life of your ddr mat? I was wondering, for when I buy one of these in about.... 4 months.

hey i think the redoctane afterburner cboxes might work with the TX4000 and 6000. its 10 bux cheaper than the tx4000 cboxes at videogamecentral. anyone know if its possible to use the RO AB cboxes with the tx4000 and 6000?

Yes! my controlbox got pushed up against my dresser when i was playing and the circuit board inside snapped, so i ordered the RO AB cbox from redoctance.com, and well, it works! (Im so happy because it took me a month and a half of no ddr and getting a stupid 15-pin cbox before i finally got a cbox that works.) E4.gif

Ordered my pads from I-Market City. TX 6000s:
EacH: $179
Subtotal: $378
9% Memorial Day Coupon

New Subtotal: 344
Shipping UPS Ground Rates: $117
Total: $461

Hopefully they'll be okay. My Solomodes from MyMyBox didn't even last a year before sensors got screwed and every arrow cracked. 2 broke in half.

I'll post up a review when I have time.

BTW, does anyone know how long Mayflash's warranty is, and if it covers broken sensors?

They won't be. I bought a flux used from someone and got it shipped UPS, came cracked.
(Edit: I played on this persons pad during a tourney, a month before I got it shipped, and it wasn't cracked, so I'm not going by what was said)

I now work for UPS, in the mornings, and any heavy poopy that comes out, we basically throw it to get out of way. Drivers constantly use big flat boxes such as dance pads to just stand on.

I highly recommend FedEx or anyone else for shipping a pad.

Anyone got the pinout diagram for the TX4000 control box? I ordered a couple to replace my Cobalt Flux boxes and want to see what sort of wiring challenges Im going to face to make them work.

Well UPS was the only service they offered and those were the cheapest pads I could find online.

Sorry for the double post, but my pads came. Notice there's no smiley face in that sentence. That's because they came with two large dents on the edges of the pad. twenzor, I guess you were right. Here are some pics:

Main Setup:

Angle View:

2 Dents (about 1" in diameter):

Crap on one of the arrows + peeling paint:

Anyone know a good way to get the excess plastic cover off or do I have to take off the arrows?

Hehe, it was the best I could considering my basement is being done; actually, right now it's at a standstill because someone reported us for not having a permit. riiight.gif Anyways, yea the pads are nice. I'm going to see what I can do about getting a discount or something from the place I ordered from. Plus they apparently offer a 1 year warranty, so when it's 364 days away, I'll be getting another pair.

Cornchipz...Oh God...seriously...you have to sheet metal mod them. I just did my 4000 as my daughter was too light to use them without stomping. I did one with the basic sheet metal mod and it is FABULOUS. My 100lbs daughter can now soft tap her way to ddr bliss. The other 4000 I did with the metal pad overhaul (rip out the board, use to sheet metal pads with one wire soldered to each and weather stripping instead of crap foam. Also muy fabulous...will have to see which holds up better....

XTTX...yeah...my pads came with big, ugly dents too...ups seemed to want to use them to hammer a few nails...

I've had my TX6000 for about 6 months now, and it has been excellent. No cracks, breaks or anything to stop me from having an incredibly enjoyable home DDR experience.

My experience in the first few days of owning it was not very good. At first, it was horribly insensistive, but this was just a temporary thing and after playing for a bit, it eased up immensely. Now it's extremely sensitive and I can select things with the A button by simply doing the slightest shift of my body weight on and off the button. I weigh 120 pounds or so and have had never found myself blaming the pad for missing an arrow. However, this thing should NOT be played on in shoes, because it doesn't pick up half of your steps. I'm not sure why this is, but it doesn't bother me - I find that it feels much more natural playing in socks and it doesn't give me the sense that I'm destroying the pad with my stomps. E4.gif

The other common issue with this pad is the bar. I heard many stories about the bar breaking within days but my bar is still going strong with extreme use (I bar rape most songs). Perhaps other people's bars have broken because they tightened the screws too much and this pressure caused it to snap. The only problem with the bar is that it moves around slightly. However, if you hold it near the "legs", it feels a lot more sturdy. It's hardly a problem - in my eyes, anyway.

All in all, I'd reccommend this pad to anyone. For the price you pay, it's remarkably strong, sturdy and sensitive. No setup is required for playing on a PC. And if you're having trouble finding a metal pad that has a bar (like I was), then this could be the way to go.

I hope I've helped. E1.gif

I got my TX-4000s today off eBay, and they are GREAT. They are sensitive enough for most hands, although I'm hoping that they will ease up just a bit soon or with the sheet metal mod that I will do soon. I A'd Max 300 first try with a 18% improvement over my old score. FedEx brought them with extremely small dents on two of the non-button panels, but I don't mind.

Over time, the pad does become EXTREMELY sensitive. It will register just a tiny tap, even if my foot is right at the edge of the button. Perhaps I'll post a video to demonstrate.

Great! Ill just have to sheet metal mod one first to see if that doesnt screw up the sensitivity, because I really would rather not have to punch for hands to register (or slap, which is insanely loud and only works if I shift my weight right). But hands are getting easier, and not having falsely triggered arrows like on my softpad is amazing. Scores are shooting up.

Hey- I was cruising around ebay and found this

http://cgi.ebay.com/XPG-4000-ADVANCED-METAL-DDR-DANCE-PAD-XBOX-PS2-PC-3in1_W0QQitemZ230006731265QQihZ013QQcategoryZ41017QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is this the same as the TX4000? They call it the 'XPG'4000- yet they compare it to others of the TX series. I'm curious becasue I'm seriously concidering bidding on this, and I don't want to get some poopy, wannabe-look-a-like.

Do both of the pads have resessed arrows because I really lose where I am exactly especially when I just want to hit the closer edge of the arrow?

Thats the one I got, as far as I can tell it is a TX4000. They took the protective plastic off the bottom left and right panels to put "XPG" and "BLADE" stickers on it so that seems to be the only difference.

Fedex beat up my box a little bit, it had plenty of punctures in the outer cardboard carton but only one of them made it through the inner carton. Theres a nice little ding in my left arrow centered about an inch from the bottom which I'm sure will cause problems later but didn't affect the 2 hours I played on it just now.

Other than that its a great pad (for the 2 hours I've used it). It took a little bit firmer step to register the arrows, but after a while I didn't even notice it. I tried with my shoes on for one song and decided to take them off because it sounded like I was tap dancing on a hardwood floor. With socks its just about noiseless unless I step too close to the outer edge and then it makes some kind of click as the arrow rubs against the side. I'm a pretty lightweight guy (about 130lbs) and I didn't feel like I had to work any harder to press the buttons. It didn't slide around on my carpet at all either which is a massive improvement.

The arrows are not recessed from any of the other panels but I had no problem finding them, I can feel the small crack between the arrows if I get too close. I come from playing on a foam pad and I think this is infinitely better.
