In this topic you can name types of patterns that annoy you. Please include songs that this pattern appears in.

For me, it would have to be 8th streams that have jumps in them. These are found in Daikenkai Standard.

Pointless drills, such as Fascination MaxX Heavy.

There not really hard, just pointless.

I don't like charts that overuse step-jumps and double steps, like EotC and Daikenkai Heavy/Oni.

For one, that isn't a specific pattern, so it is ambiguous what you dislike about them. I assume the stream or the footspeed.

Two, that is a pretty dumb generalization. There are many 9's that act a lot like 8's like for example Irresistiblement or Kakumei. Do you hate those stepcharts? My Summer Love is another 9 that shouldn't be a 9.

Also, as much as i understand that this is your opinion and that you yourself do not like the higher end stepcharts, the high end stepcharts are often the ones that make you feel like you are dancing because they make you finally go the footspeed of real dancers.

Holy crap. Both of those follow the peak of the melody. Sheesh.

Incredibly easy. Can you not see your right foot always stays on the right arrow?

Jackhammers. They are my weakness. Even really easy jackhammers, like in Dead End, when it gets like up.gif up.gif up.gif down.gif down.gif down.gif.

Those are candle steps, and I'm guessing that he dislikes them because they're hard to execute at high speeds (compared to steps that don't involve moving your foot across the center panel), not because he doesn't know how to do them.

If ITG counts, then mines hands down for me because they're distracting and a pathetic way to lose your life meter's health. Otherwise, I'd go with long jackhammers. Jacks are fun, but staying on the same note for a long time with a jackhammer gets repetitive and tiring, not to mention it seems to become hard to keep track of how well-timed you are.

I Dislike the Double combo freeze steps that have one of the arrows freeze for a shorter timespan than the other, then your foot is kept on that longer freeze arrow, while you use the other foot to hit 1/4 and 1/8 steps in all other directions.

I forget what songs have this but I think so Deep Standard has it.
Hope I didn't confuse anyone.

I despise step-jumps. I don't like spins, but I think I've grown to hate step-jumps more... which is why I almost never play A (Oni) or stoic. Jackhammers aren't cool either, though.

AMEN! I hate mines. But the fact that they cause your life meter to go down doesn't bother me as much as the fact that they lower your score. Depending on the song, hitting just a few mines can cost you at least 1%, which is really a huge amount if you usually score in the high 90s. Mines are NOT fun, and IMO, they are by far the worst aspect of ITG. When they're used sparingly (and I mean REALLY sparingly, like in Turn It On Expert), they don't bother me as much, but some step artists think it's fun to crap them in large piles all over an otherwise good chart.

Amen to the mine hate. I just turn them off now because they piss me off and ruin good step charts.

Also amen to the jackhammer hate. I suck at those so much because I just lose timing accuracy when they go on for a long time and your leg starts to feel heavy.

I would turn them off too, but then your score is disqualified. erm.gif

Jacks like in heavy Abyss. They always screw me up whenever I try to get an AA

Jump, then 8th note, and a jump again. I really hate those on fast songs like orion.78 civilization mix

Hard galloping patterns from Rythm and Police and True... Trance Sunrise Mix

Don't forget Saint Goes Marching...I tried that once and totally failed when it got to the part with the gallops.
