My first time playing ddr was at my ex's house... ohhh how i remember those days. i couldnt even pass beginner. making E's! i got sooo angry at looking like an idiot in front of my ex that i went out and borrowed extreme 2 from my other friend... that was about 2 months ago... and until this day i still vow to never give him back his game... or his torn pad... thats masked with lots of cardboard and tape... ahhh the good times... why do i still play?? because its the only thing active indoors... and the music gives me orgasims. yum! _________________

My aunt bought my sister a DDR knock-off game for her birthday. Later that year, I had about 100 dollars of birthday money that I didn't know what to get(yeah, i'm kind of spoiled). So I'm just like, how about I get this DDR game. I didn't really like it at first because I sucked.
So now, it's about 8 months later from when I started. I'm more into it now then ever.
I keep on the playing the game because I have a lot of fun. I own Extreme, and Extreme 2. The songs are a lot more fun to play on Extreme. Other then the great songs, I like the fact that I can play with my friends. When I go to the high school this year, I will have some connections to upper-classmen because of DDR! |

Well, I'd played a Max 2 machine a looong time ago, but I only played like 3 light songs, and dont remember any of em. That didnt really influence me at all, but this past October, I picked up Mario Mix, and i was hooked. I ended up getting like a C on Bowser's Castle Super Hard in like 2 months, and I got DDR Extreme 2 soon after. That was a huge change, but that christmas, my parents got me my own ps2, and DDR MAX and MAX 2, and around February, I found a copy of Extreme, rounding out my collection.
I've played for about 9.5 months now, and i can pass Pandemonium on the keyboard with an A if i'm lucky. been hooked ever since i got mario mix,... _________________

My cousins house. Night before Christmas, 3 years ago. He got to open one present, and behold, it was DDR. He started playing it, and I just fell in love with it. |

in february 2000 my uncle had meningitis (and died a month later ), so we'd go to his family's house to spend time with them (which at the time was usually spent eating or playing video games). my sister came downstairs and said "THAT DANCING GAME IS HARD!" so i thought "what was she talking about?" then i went upstairs to see all of them playing the japanese 1st mix my sick uncle gave them, failing "have you never been mellow" on light.
it went from there. whenever someone came here from the philippines we'd always find a DDR game in there somewhere, i had 1st-5th minus 2nd (my cousin had it), Dreams Come True, and Disney's Rave. Now i lost all my imports and have all american mixes except US disney mix.
we all liked Papaya, the song Bumble Bee, and Brilliant 2U Orchestra Groove. We kept playing because it was fun. Now i'm the only one who plays it a lot. Pre-4th mix (and sometimes 5th) were the best times ever. |

i would always be watching people in the arcade play DDR, and it looked like fun. I never got the courage to actually play it. The one day i finally DO want to play it... They got rid of it and replaced it with Pump It Up! SO........... I decided right then and there that i was going to buy DDR, and Christmas 2005, i got DDR Extreme 2 (although i should've gotten DDR extreme)...My first song was Butterfly (upswing mix) because it was the only one I "knew"
buying ddr was the BEST DECISION IN MY LIFE! |

I was at my big sister's house and I saw her fiance playing DDR. I had heard of it, so I decided to play, and I have been playing since then, which was last summer. I have all american releases except Extreme. _________________

not much story here. i was at the mall with a friend a few weeks ago and we were bored so we decided to check out the arcade. Oh look! DDR! at first i really wasnt very excited about playing it but after 3 songs i wanted more!
so we played for about 2 hours (i think i lost over 20 bucks that day..).. then i knew i had to play this again sometime.
i had been going to the arcade like every other day since then for a game or two.. finally now deciding to buy it ..extreme with two blueshark pads (the foamy ones or w/e). ive gotten pretty good for a beginner i think.. some heavy stuff even (like moonlight shadow..nothing huge).
chyeah! ddr is awsome! |

Hmmm... Well, I actually started playing Pump It Up first. But I thought it sucked, because the arrows were spaced out too far apart (at least I think so). But I kept playing Pump It Up, because I thought it was interesting, and the mall arcade didn't have a DDR Machine, for some reason. I thought the concept of a dancing simulator was interesting, because I had never seen a game like that before.
Then I started going to another arcade (after the mall arcade closed), and it had Pump It Up, and DDR. Mom noticed the DDR machine, and said "Look, that looks easier to play." I've been hooked ever since, especially when my step dad got me DDR MAX and my own metal pad . Of course, transitioning from PUI to DDR was slightly difficult, because I was used to diagonal steps and a center step.
But now I think DDR is better than PUI. And I've been considering trying out In The Groove, but I've seen some other people play it, and the songs look too terrifying for me to even attempt |

Well, originally I got DDR last spring to get in shape because it was the off-season for football. I didn't really like running all that much, so I thought DDR would do the trick. Eventually, I got so obsessed with DDR, I quit football and just basically played DDR my first half of my junior year.
But now with games like PIU and ITG2, I've kind of lost the feel I used to have when I'd see a DDR machine. |

I started in early Feb. this year when I went down to the arcade with my Video Game club at school.I challenged my teacher to DDR and he actually accepted. We both battled it out on DDR 5th Mix with the song Abyss on Basic. The whole club came to watch me play my teacher and, even though it was my first time playing, I brutaly beat him. I enjoyed beating my friend at it, so I got obsessed and told my dad to buy the home version for PS2.
Now I've been officially declared a Heavy player by my pro brother and I have another challenge waiting for me at the arcade on tuesday July 11.
Besides the fact that I like practicing and workig out on DDR, I just luv the Japanese Music they have on there, especially ones made by BeForU I got obsessed with playing and listening to them that I burned myself a BeForU CD. ^^ |

I always been a compulsive gamer, especially into fighting games like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat arcades.
then one day i stared right into an arcade,i saw a huge machine with a whole bunch of arrows.it looked confusing at first until i finally registered the arrows with high marks like Good,Great, and Perfect.at the same time i got criticized bigtime, people behind me would shout out,
"your centering is wrong" or "you are going too fast or too slow."
they were even shouting out directions of the arrows.boy was i ever discouraged or felt embarrassed!but that did not stop me from playing DDR.i started practicing with some or no money whether i played at home or i went out to play and did not care if i blew $10 to a DDR machine.
just long as i listened to people who were better than me at DDR,to have a consistant practice and keep shadowing people, i was unstoppable.
the first 2 songs i ever passed was "I'm Alive" and "Don't Clock Me"
from the DDR solo 2000
btw
it had a female Dj

In 2001, I was at the mall with my grandmother and I stopped at the arcade and I seen Pump It Up (DDR was at a different mall). I was like "This is something new." So I got on and tried it and I said "It's too hard". Yes, I started on PIU. It took me 3 weeks to get the use to the game. I didn't start playing DDR until a couple of months later. It was a Max 2 then. The songs I picked was Let's Groove and I believe In Miracles on light. I caught on after a week of practice. _________________

I first saw DDR on a YuGiOh episode a long time ago. (I used to watch that show religiously when I was younger.) About a year or so later, there was a machine in my local arcade, and that's where I first tried it. (I failed beginner mode.)
Next encounter was a few years later, at Hershey Park. Once again, I tried, and failed horribly.
Then a friend of mine got one of the DDRs that you plug into the TV. Not long after that, I got DDREX2 for my birthday. I've been playing for five months now, though it doesn't seem like that long. I'm not all that good, I'm regularly at standard mode and I've never passed (or really attempted) heavy. I'll get to it. _________________
