TX pads use Lexan? I never knew that. But like I said before, I've never heard of a CF panel cracking. |
i just thought that's what i heard. but it's kind of funny now because i just checked lik-sang and when i search for TX, all that comes up is the TX4000 which uses stainless steal covers for the arrows. they don't list the crappy pads which used plastic for their arrows. |
TX pads do not use Lexan. I own a TX-2000, and I can tell you right now, the pad covers are ordinary cheap plastic. Some of the newer models (like the TX-6000) may use Lexan, but at their price point, I strongly doubt it. The lexan is worth it, it's the same stuff bulletproof glass is made of, it will never break from your weight, even if you weigh 600 pounds. They use it on space ships, no joke. |

Does the arcade mod really help you "feel" your way around the arrows. Occasionally I'm getting a miss because I lose my position on the pad, but I don't want to buy the arcade mod kit if I'm not even going to notice it. |

I'd say the mod helps quite a bit. But I've never really tried to play without it. |

It does. I have an arcade mod and I never have to look down when I play. _________________

The Arcade Mod raises the 5 non-arrow panels, so the 4 remaining arrow panels are unchanged and are now slightly lower than the rest. I'll be picking up one of these mods very soon
Is it common to be getting occasional way-offs after my first day of switching from my Afterburner? The Flux does have smaller arrows and during menus I do tend to step on arrows without even noticing, but I'm slightly worried that I did something wrong to my pad when I debowed it.
The panels seem to lay flat, but it seems as if there's a gap between the lexan and what's beneath it. I might just be a little paranoid, so any reassurance would help |

There is a gap, and it's supposed to be that way. The velcro circles at the corners of a panel keep the two sheet metal contacts separated from each other. When you press on a panel, the gap closes and the contacts touch, registering a step. _________________

I'll have to get my Arcade Mod, I get a bunch of random misses on most 9's and above
If I can actually manage to hit the pad I should be able to AA HVAM no problem, which is great considering my best score before was a B |

I'm interested in getting a CF, but I was just wondering about how long they would last because I've seen some pads on ebay where the wooden part had split. Also, would I need an arcade mod? I'm used to playing with a TX-1000 which are pretty flat, and I can feel where I'm at just fine. However, when I play at the arcade I'm not used to having the buttons raised, so I have a little trouble picking my feet up far enough and often get a bunch more misses. _________________

All the split ones Ive seen on Ebay were sold by Cobalt Flux themselves. I assume they either split in manufacturing or they were warrantied. |

You should go for the arcade mod. It'll help improve your skills in the arcade, and that's something you want to do. When I decided to learn how to do good on a machine, I was really happy that I did. |

I ordered my cobalt flux with the arcade mod but when i got used to it i decided i didn't like it, so i took them off. I don't play at the arcades so it's no big deal for me but still i feel more comfortable when its flat |

I think it depends on a few things, including where you live in relation to the company, and what building/shipping supplies they have on hand at the time in which you order.
It took them approximately a month to get mine to me. Three weeks and a few days, I believe.
Some people have waited longer, however. |

No, you misunderstood. The first post on the CF Forum page was describing how to fix a regular home pad, when the wood screws have chewed up the board from repeatedly taking them out and putting them back in. (Probably using an electric screwdriver during disassembly and reassembly for cleaning.)
The second post is from the guy who called CF directly asking about new pads. Still, I agree, the price for those things is a little high.

"Far superior to flimsy home units"
I like that touch. My CF doesn't stand up to the test of schools
And where can I get 2 official arcade stages for $2400? |
