So, i was watching MADE and there was some guy who was like "i wanna be a ladies man" and so im like "o man this is gonna be good" and so i watch for a while. Then, the guy takes some girls to some sorta arcade and what does he do? He plays DDR. Then i'm like "hey this guy is neat-o he plays DDR" and then i realized that jackass coach called him a loser. This is the part where i get pissed. Are all people who play DDR losers? Do we fail at life? Are we gonna end up living with out mothers at the age for 40 JUST so we can afford the DDR cabinet? No, No, and No. But this being MTV, of course they did. Now, i've had educated conversations to girls that i don't even know who ask me about DDR. None of them consider me a "loser" or a "regect." The only person who ive ever been called a loser by for playing DDR is some pothead tool-box at my school.

Discuss.

all the people who play ddr around my school don't get called a loser....except for those who really are. i've never had a problem with it though. but i guess that wasnt the point of this topic....

MTV is pretty stupid in my book in the first place. This episode of MADE just confirms MTV's stupidity even more for me...

No way! Why have fun playing a game when you can have some guy coach you how to be "KOOOL" by staying inside and acting like a total chav.

Forget him, and forget MTV. We're not losers, we're playing games that we enjoy to play. I don't go out and say "Hay, look at those guys playing baseball, what a bunch of jackasses."

It was the GUY who said it, who had nothing to do with MTV. Even when you got to see the kid play for a while, he sucked total ass at it. Plus, the guy is right--you are not going to make a girl who doesn't play video games fall for you with DDR "skills." The point of the show was to turn an otherwise useless person into someone that a majority of girls are going to want to hang out with in a short period of time. It wouldn't have been worth anything to the kid to put emphasis on DDR during that time frame.

It's MTV, who gives a crap what their opinions are. These are the people who think Fall Out Boy is a AMAZING band.

Synaesthesia is right. your not a loser for playing DDR, but taking a girl to an arcade with no intrest in DDR or video games in general it kind of ruins the date. you're pretty much saying to the girl, "hey, I rather play this game then hang out with you..." not the best thing to say to a lady.

A lot of the peeps (especially a couple of girls, who ironically, have boyfriends) I knew back in HS give me kudos for having the guts to play DDR. biggrin.gif

I have to agree with her on that one too. We do need to appreciate the other person's interests also if you are ever going to connect to them. I know this because my truest friends won't let my mind wander off to our favorite DDR game in their presence. They will do their damnedness to keep me focused on what their doing.

Suggestion to all: Do not ever suggest any arcade for a date. It will backfire on you 99% of the time.

MTV is just MTV. The people on it can be either a bunch of losers or a bunch of people who just state their opinion and not care who they make angry. Example of a real loser: Simon from American Idol. He will insult anyone on national television just for the sake of insulting someone regardless of anyone's talents. We would be giving him glory for being upset at any of his rude and obnoxious behavior. How do you defeat people like that? Just be confident that the right people would appreciate your talents and don't let "porkers" like him bother you.

yeah i realize it was a dumb dating choice, but calling someone a loser for playing DDR is a little stupid. You can call them a loser for taking a couple of girls who probably live at the mall and have every laguna beach season on DVD to an arcade, but not for liking DDR.

I just don't get it...

There really is no mystery about this. And you will probably get dissed to some degree just because you're playing DDR, if you haven't already.

A casual onlooker who sees someone flailing around stomping on arrows to a song that is most likely unlike any kind of music they would listen to is easily inclined to think that person is a loser. Why? Because DDR is unfamiliar from certain aspects of the "typical society". Who stomps on arrows in public? Who likes "Japanese music"? People conform so much nowadays, that anything totally out there MUST be stupid. This is why that guy on Made called him a loser.
Not to say that there aren't people who think the contrary (because many people also tend to clap and gawk at the players), but that doesn't change the fact that there's many others that don't have the same impression. Therefore, expect a good sum of people to think the idea of playing a video game that goes the extra mile from typical arcade play is geeky and stupid to do in public.

It's sad, but it's a fact of life. But their opinions aren't worth dwelling on, because they obviously use little reasoning to bound their views upon.

If it's harmless, just do your own thing. Who gives a damn what anyone else thinks.

And above all else, don't take to heart a single damn word those MTV shows try to spit at/imply to you. I swear, if you think too deeply while watching MTV, it will only rob you of your intelligence.

I can tell you right now that I have no life, I am a loser, and I will end up living with my mom all my life. But that's not because I'm a DDR addict. It's just because I'm me.
But really, there are many people who think anyone who plays DDR seriously is a loser. These people normally just say this because they suck at DDR and they know it. They say it to you to make themselves feel better because they suck at DDR. Once some kid I know said that he wanted Konami to go bankrupt so they'd stop making DDR games, because he didn't like that there were people better then him.

Yeah, an arcade would only ever work if the guy KNEW you liked arcade gmes. The VAST majority of girls I know couldn't care less about arcades...and they even have a game consol at home usually.

The arcade is PREDOMINANTLY a male scene.

(Some words were capped to help prevent some n00b of accusing of stupid generalizations. This might happen anyway, but I made a valiant effort in avoiding such a useless post as that.)
