I wasn't sure where to put this.

In this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-NrIuaDtqc&search=future%20course

There are parts where,
1. the arrows stop and the place where you hit them goes down.
2. the arrows squash together.
3. the arrows fly off the screen.
4. and, at the end, the freeze note seems to fly around crazily into the distance.

Can anybody guess what combonations of mods it takes to make these effects? I'm making a intense SM course and I would love to use these effects!

But, how is such possble in Stepmania? I'm sure that's a combination mod. (A mod made out of two mods placed at the same time...) Combination: Unknown... E4.gif

I've been playing around with the mods making my own courses so I might be able to help you with some.

1) I think it might have something to do with centered.

2) I know this one for a fact, I used it a lot in my course. You use X% flip (where X<50) and then take it off soon after. When the flip activates it will push them together and when it deactivates they will go back, creating the squashing affect.

3) No idea.

4) I think it is probably tornado and massive % mini

If you want more ideas (and possibly answers to your question) try here:

That is the "Driven Drop"

Brother Mojo from ITG Freak wrote:
Centered, at *1, moves at a 135 BPM scroll rate, and the difference between quarter notes on 1x is 43.2% centered.

So, first I set the speed mod so the exact number of beats I wanted to appear on screen, and then I change centered at the appropriate rate for that speed mod. For example, if I'm doing the effect for one beat at 2x, that one beat is 86.4% centered. At, say, 140 BPM, that's 280 BPM scroll rate, and then 280/135 = *2.07407 86.4% centered. If you want exactly 8 beats to appear in the space of 200% centered, that's (200%/8 beats)/43.2% = 0.5787x. etc.

um guys, stuff like that's not hard to do.
and yes, it works fine on stepmania CVS. hell, we have that course on our local hacked itg2 machine.
point out a part of the course and when i'm at home i'll show exactly what mods are used for what lengths of time, it's not difficult at all.

i think this is how he did #1:

however, it doesn't tell how to get the arrows to stop moving while it does that...

edit: oh, they don't stop. they're just going really slow...

When I saw that, that's the first thing that came to mind. My favorite one was where the arrows were coming up, and got stuck in the middle, then flew up to the top.
