Beginner Mode has one purpose, and one purpose only...to make retarded Doubles Edits that have hands and quads and that you know you can't pass, that's all it does, thats all it's there for, end of story.

i only did a few beginner songs whil starting out. i was starting standard in my 2nd week. i think beginner is useful for the home version only because of the on screen dancer to help people learn. my friend with ultramix isn't very good at the game- he says the songs are too hard-(no beginner difficulty) so beginner has some use to people who suck at the game.

i know some one said this earlier but im going to say this again because aparently wether from lack of brains or they just havent read the the other 7 pages either way begginer mode does more bad than good because it teaches you to to put your foot back to the middle i played begginer for 2 days it took me a month to learn how to not bring my foot back to the middle. so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

a day or two after getting DDR, a friend of mine said "whatever you do, don't return to the center." i played beginner for 2 days as well- returning to the center- and i followed my friend's advice and quit, it isn't rocket science- unless you have no beat.

(stuff) so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

If I did that, my I.Q. would drop considerably.
I think that beginner mode is quite useful to 1 legged-mentally-disabled midgets.

DDR's difficulty is the whole reason it isn't as popular as extremely boring and overrated games like GTA and Final Fantasy. I think it's great thing that exists, since it's a mode that allows complete novices to actually be able to pass a song. All people I know who don't care for the game say that they're horrible at it. Since most people first play DDR in the arcades, they don't have access to Lesson Mode like home version players do, so they must rely on playing a song on Beginner. I even think KOH is doing the right thing by introducing Super Easy Mode for DDR Universe, since some people even think Beginner is too hard. People, DDR is an extremely difficult game to learn, so beginners need as much ease as possible. If you first play the game through home, you'll be fine doing Lesson Mode first, but once Super Easy Mode is introduced in the arcades, it should completely change the tide of the game's overall success because much fewer people will find the game to be too hard to learn.

Beginner mode just getting you used to the dance pad.

I think Lesson mode is better.

I honestly never really did use the beginner mode. Every person I got into ddr has done the same. So I agree it is a very big waste of time.

I was horrible when I started DDR, so I used beginner mode to get better with my timings. Now it is a total waste of time for me, and I also hear that some DDR games are going to have an even easier mode. It is kind of odd because my girlfriend can barely pass beginner. So there are people out there that need it to start playing DDR.

I played beginner mode for two hours before starting on light.
All in the same day, ofc.
I really think I could have done without it happy.gif

If beginner mode is too hard for anyone, they're just stupid (minus songs about 250+ BPM... they can be difficult for a newbie). I'm just amazed at the people who go to the arcade, go on the pad, and can't hit a single arrow. It's not hard. Put your foot on the arrow as it comes up, with the beat.

I'm not sure how someone can really complain about the easiest Light songs being too hard. I was almost FC'ing most light songs during the first day I started.

i started out on standard....after a week i was doing some heavy songs. so...i guess i would think that beginnerts mode would indeed be a waste of time.

beginner makes me wait longer when n00bs play because it's on fail at end of song. <_<

but from a more reasonable standpoint, it's a frick waste of time. i mean, less steps = harder to keep the beat. plus, most of us probably started on a machine older than extreme, so we know that light is far better to learn on. i know learning on 7th mix light would have been easier for me than extreme beginner. <_<

Beginner mode actually has a very good purpose...when little kids play and they're failing their first song, a lot of the time they leave. XD First-stage clear...so I get on and I change the difficulty for the next two songs.

i spent maybe 2 beginner songs before i understood how to do light and standard. i didnt even really need light... beginners is a waste... after the first few songs you get the jist of how to stomp your feet.

^^ Yeah that happened to work for me one day. Begginner is good just for little kids who know that their reaction time isn't as fast as the older people. I started on Basic and didn't fail so Beginner is useless to me. But I really hate it cuz most of the arrows, to me, are off-beat disturb.gif and I had to watch a n00b (the on-sceen player) dance on the screen staying in the center of the pad when he shouldn't.
The mode is just plain easy to get AAAs on, unless you're so used to heavy that you can't play Beginner anymore. riiight.gif

Beginner mode has steps that can help out new players, but I don't like the on-screen dancers. They teach the annoying art of putting your feet back in the center, something that I've told others not to do millions of times to no avail.

I dunno if I posted here yet, so I'll just post here. Beginner mode...eh, I dunno. The failing being off/set to end of song isn't that great. I started with DDRMAX US, and I had no beginner mode. At the time, I didn't even know there was a beginner mode. The failing helped me learn. Beginner mode doesn't let people learn from their mistakes like Light does. Besides, the beginner helper in the background gives the player the bad habit of putting your feet in the middle after you step. Once you've done it in beginner for so long, it can be a hard habit to drop. If you ask me, beginner mode could use some tweaking. After all, people did just fine with DDR before beginner was added.
