The songs in DDR with such "bullshit patterns" are still easy enough for me to not care about them.
Also, if you think DDR charts are flawed (which, hell, they are), take a look at a few ITG charts too.
I mean, we can't forget Utopia. Or just about any other 10 foot + Cfoy chart >_> _________________

It doesn't have to be hard to be stupid. VerTex's 612 BPM part is stupid, not hard. _________________

What are you talking about? I think itg has much better stepcharts than ddr. ddr songs all have the same basic steps: 1/4 notes and 1/8 notes... that's pretty much it for most songs... Cfoy's charts are great cause they are much more original than ddr charts and more challenging. And Utopia's a really fun song... _________________

Yea I have to agree that after a while some of the DDR charts can seem really bland. ITG charts are much more exciting and challenging.

I don't think those patterns are bullshit. Well, they are, but they're still enjoyable to me; just an exercise in step-reading and quick-footedness (I don't mind double-stepping).
In my opinion (feel free to disagree), the REAL bullshit patterns that I see kinda often in DDR and a little bit in ITG are basically the broken rhythm steps.
1. Stutter steps that don't follow any rhythm
2. Steps that go to a keyboard improvisation or just an offbeat "pattern" of 8ths and 16ths
The former are multiple non-pattern breaks in the middle of stream, or just a fragmented bunch of 8th notes, that either go to the singing or nothing at all. Several songs do this in DDR, but ! in ITG sticks out in my mind. True, the stutters actually go with the music, but still...
The latter can be find in the several piano-y trance songs introduced to Extreme.
Both usually end up as just frustrating memory tests with a lot of stumbling and aren't usually fun or even well-thought out.
And when I talk about ITG, I talk about HARD mode. Reason being, one, I'm still hovering at a 9-10 foot/bar level. But, more importantly, I think it's pointless to compare ITG Expert with anything in DDR under a 10. It's like complaining that DDR's Light steps are too easy compared to ITG's Medium mode. They're not the same class of steps.
I see lots of people do this in the ITG v DDR argument on the DDR side, and it's horribly fallacious.
And when the hell is ITG3 supposed to even appear somewhere? |

Hell yes. Please. Oh my goodness, guys if you haven't heard the music you are missing out. This would totally fit in ITG.
If you editted Bloody Battle, Shudder, Thermosphere, Impatience, Madness, Badlands, or Chase into a 2 minute slot....then OMG
...That would be so cool. Thanks for reminding me, I'm gonna go make SM files for each of these. _________________

Utopia is fun. I thought that was what defined a good chart?
Seriously, ITG is a game. If the game is fun, then the game succeeded. Just because a chart may seem impossible to **** doesn't mean it isn't fun.
And also, if you get used to the "nonsense" rhythm that isn't all that nonsensical really, then you migh actuall score well. That's sure a better alternative than just complaining about it. I mean seriously, it's not anything hard like 24th streams at 147 or jumps at the end of 8th streams at 330. It's just a few orange notes. _________________

It's not mind-blowingly hard, just pointlessly badly timed. I mean why add randomly placed orange notes if there's nothing in the song that it follows? |

I actually agree that they do follow something, it's just hard to tell what it is. I can hear it, but I can't actually describe what it is.

I can describe it. The lead synth in the song kind of oscillates and the first art of the right foot stomping follows that. Unfortunately for the dancer, this oscillation doesn't follow a normal rhythm or even a consistant one. _________________

I concur. |
Me too. ITG is not for people who want to play songs they always hear on the radio. How many hardcore players do you know who don't despise American licenses with a passion? ITG is for experts. DDR, on the other hand, is better for people who are just getting started and feel more comfortable playing songs they know. You can suggest Lose Control for SuperNova CS, instead. |
o.O... no. DDR isn't that. Compared to DDR, ITG is nothing to me. ITG is fun in small doses, but its not this "getting started and feel more comfortable playing songs they know" crap.
Blood is Pumping by Voodoo and Serano for ITG3 anyone?
