Hm, wow, nobody's first experience with rolls was in Summer Hard? Cool, well mine was. I just stood there holding it like a regular freeze in the first set of rolls and missed them (kinda freaked out on them, even though I read about them before), but then got the rest of the rolls in the song afterwards, but was stepping them much faster than necessary (... like 185bpm 16th notes). _________________

I think mine was Summer Hard too. I knew what to do because I read up on it, but it still didn't feel natural. I mean, look at Robotix Hard, the drill is longer than your mom. Meh, it was pretty dumb _________________

OK. I had my first roll today (today was my first time playing ITG). I saw it come up, and for a second I was thinking "Wtf?". But then I remembered hearing something about them and did it right.
I don't remember what song it was though, or what I got. |

Same. It was on Robotix Hard. It was hell.
There were also rolls on Destiny Hard if memory serves me correctly. _________________

I've never played on an ITG machine, and I only have ITG1 for PS2. What exactly are rolls? I know they are represented on the stepcharts on itgfreak as the purple freezes. _________________

You've gotta tap the notes as fast as you can or the machine will explode.

You have to tap the roll at the rate of quarter notes on a song that is 200 BPM, if I recall correctly. _________________

Yes, 200 BPM or 0.3 seconds (Both are the same, but it gives you another metric of how fast you must go.) Most people do 16ths though because of how rolls are usually placed. _________________

Oh, that's the exact speed. That's easy. I tap that fast on Hybrid, I could go 50 BPM faster on both feet without tiring myself out. _________________

my first encounter with a freeze roll was in a stepmania 3.95 build. I was making a stepchart, and accidently held down the shift key - then I freaked out. _________________

The first time I experienced a freeze roll was on Renaissance on hard. My friend was playing on medium and we both were like "er...what do we do?" And i just ran on the arrows guessing and it was right. It was pretty cool because ive never seen them before.

Mine was Summer as well.
I just treated them as 16th steps. |

Mine was July -Euromix- Expert. I had read about it prior to our local arcade getting ITG2, so I was aware of their existence. However, I think I spent all my energy throwing out 32nd steps thinking you need to "roll" as fast you could for it to count. Drr. _________________

Like many here, my first experience was on July -Euromix- and I knew about them in advance so I knew what to do. I feel bad for anyone who has never experienced a roll, and unknowingly tries Robotix Hard ^_~ _________________
