Would this be cheating?

On the beatmania controller, the buttons are raised kinda high and are spaced far apart. I always have the problem of slipping off a key and hurting my finger(s) on the hard plastic and the black plastic around the keys. Could I possibly cut out a metal plate so that it fits the button outlines, and put it on my controller? Thereby reducing the distance between the bottons and the hard plastic around the keys? I hope that wouldnt be unfair or anything.

What Im saying is could I raise the surface of my beatmania controller (the area around and between the keys) by putting something over the surface?

well...it won't be cheating per se, but imo it all comes down to how well you can play on an arcade machine.

I'd say its alright. No different than the advantage for any home game over arcade.

aslong as your not changing the distance between the keys, then it should be fine.
