the only way you can use a bar during ddr is if you have the money to purchase an actual DDR machine. i haven't heard of any home metal pads that have good bar attachments.

Guys, I know the bar is supposed to suck, but Ive heard that "it does the job". I'm only 110 lbs, and I'm hoping it will do the job, even if it's not very sturdy. And I use the bar alot and I have to use a chair right now. If it breaks, cant I just weld it?

ohhhhh, did you order the model with the bar?
I hope it works for you, let us know, but theres a LOT of bad reviews on this model on the lik-sang product page.

Good review, I'm almost sold.

Does the pad stay in place fairly well, or does it slide around a lot on heavy play? It seems like they would sit well at 44lbs each. I'd like to get two of these for doubles, but not if they are going to slide apart on carpet. I'm not much of a modder, and the ABs are sold out currently.

Lik sang said 3-5 days to get to me (south east michigan, US) but it would be over 100 dollars shipping which is more than the pad cost itself.

So any trustable vendor/Merchants that won't take long at a reasonable price?

only $205.... arrives 3-7 days and ships in 1-3? i'm pretty much sold on this pad. affordable and pretty good. Thats all ive been looking for in a pad lately. I was thinking a nexan, but i havent heard anything bad about the 1501 and its cheaper. All-in-all, i think this just might be my metal pad of choice. i can't wait till i finally get a decent metal pad. Plus, i wont need seperate control boxes or anything like the nexan and i hear mymybox isnt the greatest...but lik-sang is pretty good from my past experiences! im so gonna get this and oundan this summer.

Hi, I'm trying to decide between the TX1501 and the TX4000 however, I have a couple questions.

A) I'm looking for a pad with slightly recessed arrows. It looks like the 1501 has this and the 4000 does not. Is this true? Also, is there an easy way to mod the pad to get recessed arrows, or raised alternate panels?

B) I've heard that the pads with metal arrows (4k/6k etc) have lower sensitivity than the the plastic arrow pads. Is there ANY truth to this matter and if so to what degree.

That's pretty much all I needed to know, thanks for any responses.

I got it yesterday (June 23) it shipped June 21 so thats from Hong Kong to Michigan in 2 days!!! I can't believe how fast it was. It works fine and I got it on PC easily enough.

Got it from lik sang in 2 days for $205.90 and no cracks or dents or anything wrong with the pad when I got it. I reccomend Lik Sang if you want to buy the TX-1501.

im also from michigan, and its good to know delivery is that fast! I actually am gonna order one now from lik-sang instead of the nexen pad because this looks fine. I also plan on sheet metal modding mine once i need to clean/fix it.

I just got mine today. It was a "Ninja" label one from ebay, but it's really the same thing. It was a little cheaper than from lik-sang (Just about $140 after shipping), but I didn't get the replacement arrow sets or anything. I don't think I'll have problems with that, though. My last pad (an ebay'd TX1000) didn't have any crack problems until after a year of use, and someone with less than savory DDR stepping habits was using it at the time.

Anyway, the pad looked great, came all covered with the sticky plastic over every panel and piece of metal, basically. I opened it up to do a sheet metal mod, reusing the supplies from my TX1000, and noticed alot of fingerprints on the contacts...

I gave them all some rubbing alcohol and WD40 and now they seem somewhat less fingerprinty.

I hooked it up to my Media Center and ran the Audio Sync Calibrator on the ITG demo, and with it's USB the lag varied... I tried to calibrate it only listening to the music, not looking at the arrows, and it went from about 40ms, to 20, to 15ms..... But my dancing area is just carpet for right now, so those number aren't accurate by any means, although I don't think there are lag problems. I tested it out and so far my scores aren't as great as the arcade, seeing as how I have no bar as of yet to help me balance, but it seems to be very responsive and I get fairly good timing.

I've been playing with shoes and don't seem to have any problems with cracking yet. Seems like a good pad to me!

Oh, and a note about the ring parts having a sharp edge and cutting into the panels.... In comparison to my TX1000, I believe this is a good thing.
If they just sat above the arrows and tried to hold them down, it would loosen the circles eventually and either strip the screw out of it's hole or pull up the wood blocks below (as happened to my TX1000).
If it cuts into the panels a bit, it serves as sort of a self-defense mechanism for the ring, without causing much real damage to the arrows. The arrows adjust to the ring (by being cut into a small amount) rather than the ring adjusting to the arrows (by being pulled up and rendered useless).

very nice review. u kno wut ur talkin about 4 sure. couple questions.

1. how thick is the pad? i want to make a bar, and i want the thingie the bars will be attatched to to be the same thickness as the pad.

2. if i made bars that slip under the dance mats (like have pegboard that goes under the pad all the way and sticks out a bit behind so i can mount wood to attach bars to) if i put pressure on the bars, do you think the thing would flip on me?

3. if it would flip, any ideas as to how i can make it so it doesn't.
