OK, so next week I start work at a computer camp where I live ( ) and one thing I have to do is run an elective or club. For this requirement, I have decided to do a DDR club. The issue is, what am I going to do about crowd control? A lot of people are expected to join this club, and I don't want people to be left out/wait too long, I also want to both teach the people who are absolutely new to DDR how to play, and teach those with a little experience how to play better. We are expecting to have a lot of DDR foam pads on hand, and several PS2s, but whether or not I can wing 2 DDR setups is yet to be seen. _________________

Have a sign in sheet giving a name and a skill level. First come first serve. _________________

Ok, I'm only 14 years old, but I'm assuming your auddiance is teenagers or younger. I've had like up to 10 of my friends over before, most of the time we just play DDR. Between songs we either talk, drink, eat, or just watch whoever is playing.
Try to throw in some songs that they might know or like to grab their attention. My friends and I are really big fans of Naoki songs on DDR Extreme. I know a lot of this is not really that specific, but I hope it helped a bit.
Oh, BTW, for the 3 or so that are better, maybe they would want to work on their Trick DDR, feet work, or endurance.
Edit -- Just noticed you were wondering about crowd controll, not what to do. You could have some people running/walking around if you really wanted to have a certain group on the machines constantly. |

About the crowd control - I relaize that this was the wrong title, I did mean what you were talking about (what to do) - *CHANGES TITLE*
Your ideas are very helpful. _________________

Problem is, only a handful of campers (3?) play on non-light/beginner mode diffuculties - These 3 or so and a lot of the junior counselors play on Heavy, most campers though play beginner/ligt.
(The best was last year, every so often we would bring down foam pads and have these big tournaments - big fun! Now we are doing it every night! ) |
Then politely ask all the good players to teach the new ones how to play. then do like, a 2 to 1 thing. 2 games for newbs, 1 game for pros. 2 for newbs, one for pros.
And why would a DDR club have so many people that play on beginner. _________________
